Skipping knees are a staple of good Muay Thai training. Doing them on a bag is ideal but with large classes or times whe a bag isn't available there are alternatives.
Good time to work on the basics
It's with a heavy heart I announce that Kings Thai Boxing will be closing down while the Coronavirus runs rampant. Midtown is a ghost town and practically abandoned at night. It's not a good scene. As a small business that relies on its members (you) to stay open, I'm asking for your support to NOT cancel or freeze your membership if you are still employed and/or working from home. With your help and support we will get through this tough time and come back even stronger and better! Hopefully this is all over shortly and I hope to see everyone sooner than later. Stay safe! Aaron Fisher
We clean the gym 2-3 times a week with an industrial cleaner made for gyms and have a professional cleaner twice a week. We have hand sanitizer and wipes. Don't live in fear but do your part. If you feel sick or have been around sick people or think you could be sick then STAY HOME! If we all act smart and do our part then we can keep our gym the SAFE, HEALTHY, CLEAN, AWESOME place we all love!
Flash Back Friday. Training at the top of Runyon Canyon in LA with Sean. G'd up from the feet up.
Give not which is holy to the dogs, neither cast you your pearls before swine, least they trample them under their feet. - Matthew 7:6
Professional Muay Thai fighter, Kaleb Hunter wins by stoppage in the second round last Friday. Congratulations Kaleb on your fifth professional win!
Right low kick, left body kick. Classic. Check the right, catch the left. Classic.
Having good balance will allow you to execute better Muay Thai technique, and just like you can learn the techniques, you can learn balance. These videos are small snippets of the type of things you (should) learn taking classes and are things that everyone can practice in their apartments with no equipment needed. During this mandatory closure you can watch these videos and go back through them and learn, re-learn, practice, and perfect your technique. Push ups, sit ups, and... other physical fitness workouts are good to include in your life on a daily basis, especially when everyone is locked down but at the end of the day that is something you can do on your own if you put your mind to it. The skills that you can learn from practicing the techniques in these videos is invaluable and can help you become a better martial artist, a better fighter, a better instructor, coach, or just understand Muay Thai better. Stuff your eyes with wonder, he said, live as if you'd drop dead in ten seconds. See the world. It's more fantastic than any dream made or paid for in factories. - Farenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury
