We're transforming this home into a lighter, modern space where the focus is the view. We replaced doors and windows at the back of the space (photo 2) with a 17' wall of glass doors (photo 1); removed some walls; and lightened up the floors. Switching out the wooden stair for a custom metal version @unlimitedmetalwork also helps.

One of my favorite murals I’ve ever painted, hands down, is this one, in a private Hudson Valley residence. As I mentioned in my post earlier today, I have an extensive dance background in both traditional Irish and contemporary dance. I danced all through childhood, and all the way through college, and beyond. After I graduated from Red Hook high school, I went to @bardcollege , here in the Hudson Valley. I studied studio art, and for my thesis, combined my love of dance, choreography and visual art into a series of massive drawings, created through a process that involved improvi...sational choreography and translation of movement into two dimensions. I titled this body of work ‘Groundwork’ and learned so much through this process. Every year, the #kingstondesignshowhouse invites a landscape designer to create a garden. #thirdannual_kingstondesignshowhouse participant Ricardo Castro designed and built our garden this year. Together with partners @herzogs_home_center and @cambridgepavers, they created an outdoor dining area bordered by a simple and elegant garden. Photos 1-2 @camilo.phtgrph. His love of nature began in middle school where, during school breaks, he spent days working with his father in his landscape company. He was a cook at several restaurants, including @alainducasse and @elevenmadisonpark. He was also a personal chef for clients, including @toryburch and @lancearmstrong. Founded in 2014, Suzanne works with clients, architects and #designers on high-end cabinetry for kitchens, baths and elsewhere. #Repost this beautiful photo @rowanwoodwork creating custom cabinets for the #thirdannual_kingstondesignshowhouse kitchen. ---------- I took this photo recently while visiting #thirdannual_kingstondesignshowhouse participants @rowanwoodwork and @newyorkheartwoods at their workshops in midtown Kingston. Shortly thereafter, I had a conversation with a friend about how he defended me to his friend. I don't know why but this particular photo I took popped in my head. I've been ha...ving some version of this conversation all my life. My friends step in to explain that I'm not snobby (high school) or aloof (honestly by everyone all my life). These adjectives mean the same thing...I am an introvert. I used to say I was shy but I am almost laughingly not that. I am an introvert (swap in observer if you prefer, which is maybe why this photo came to mind), meaning that the majority of my live is lived in my head. I once went to a Buddhist temple every day for almost a year because it drove me crazy that I ate an apple and then spent minutes looking for it (but repeatedly!). While we are speaking, I am thinking many random related thoughts. At the same time, I'm willing myself to be here with you because people are my inspiration. For most of my life, I've been paid to do one thing---find the people with the right skills and direct them to make things happen. This is our one #kingstondesignshowhouse design requirement and everyone is free to interpret it. Every year we see how this translates into collaborations and original work.
