Join our "Diverse Learners" webinar on Thursday, April 22 at 4 PM to hear from KIPP teachers and leaders about how we're improving outcomes for ALL students. RSVP link in bio. #KIPPNYC #specialeducation ... I’m passionate about working with Diverse Learners because my eyes are wide open to know that there is not just one way that a person learns. There’s no ‘one size fits all’ education. I know that I need to roll up my sleeves, think outside the box and be creative in order to reach ALL students. And I’m ok with that because this is the job I was destined to have. - Naima Askew, Grade 7 Special Education Teacher, KIPP Academy Middle School.

In response to the Derek Chauvin verdict, KIPP NYC is providing some resources for students, staff, and families on our family resource page. https://www.kippnyc.org/remote-learning/family-resources/ Statement from the KIPP Foundation Recognizing that a just world is one in which George Floyd’s life was never taken, the conviction of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin is a crucial step towards change, accountability, and justice. While we applaud this ruling, we ...know the impact this murder has had on KIPP's Black educators, students, and families, especially for our team in Minnesota. We know that change begins to be possible when we hold people accountable for their crimes. And still, there remains much work to be done as there is still no justice for countless victims who have suffered at the hands of police and systematic white supremacy. We stand in solidarity with George Floyd’s family, victims of police brutality, the Black community as a whole, and all the people who had to relive the trauma of this heinous murder. Today is a day for healing and justice. KIPP will continue to strive for liberation and a world where Black children can wake up daily with no doubt that their lives matter. We will continue to build a community where Knowledge Is Power.

From @kippschools Another young Black person’s life tragically taken just miles from the trial of Derek Chauvin. #DaunteWright should still be with his family. We must stand together to dismantle anti-blackness systemic racism & injustice everywhere.... We send our deepest condolences to the family of #DaunteWright & we send our support to the citizens of Minneapolis who have experienced so much pain & suffering, especially our own students and staff and all Black Americans. We all have a part to play to end systemic racism & injustice in this country. End Racism Now. End Anti-Blackness Now. We stand with Minneapolis & we stand with the family of #DaunteWright. : @leeyamakesnoise

In a recent webinar on Social & Emotional Learning, KIPP NYC staff talked about how we've been supporting students through the challenges of the last year by using a tiered approach. Tiered support at KIPP allows us to provide targeted support for students based on need, says Asiya Razvi of KIPP Infinity Middle School. It can range from grief counseling and anxiety support to building social skill capacity. We chose to keep our advisory groups the same throughout the pande...mic to have a continuation of connection and relationship for students remotely. Looking for a new role? Join us in this important work by applying at kippnyc.org/careers. #KIPP #KIPPNYC
