Help support the Kirby Free Library of Salisbury! We urgently need your help. The library has lost funding from government representatives for various reasons. Now we are reaching out to our community. Below is an QR code that reaches our Pay Pal account. Any donation large or small is greatly appreciated. Without libraries what have we? We have no past and no future. Ray Bradbury (Please Share)

Day 97: This article still rings true. All though we went from 5 to 7 trustees we are still a free association library. The charter hangs by the doorway of our community room. We are still in the center of town. We are still serving the community. It is still a place where people and clubs can meet and hopefully soon we will be having more programing. I hope in another 45 years someone will come across this article and say yes this article still ring true. (Please Share)

Day 96: The article itself is a day in the life. I can't imagine being closed because of a natural gas shortage but it was 1975. It's the last line of this piece that I find interesting. It's official the library's name is Kirby Free Library of Salisbury. There is no month or day on this clipping just the year 1975. If you happen to know the when this was in the paper drop a comment below. Thanks (Please Share)

Day 95: I like to read these years in review as it gives us some insight into how the year went. This is for the year 1974. I hope you find it as interesting as I did. And if you remember any of this drop a comment below. (Please Share)

Day 93: I can see from the article that they weren't open for many hours. We still have the books mentioned in our library. And I'm wondering if the kids table we have now was donated to that library or purchased for this library. It's fun to read these articles to see what was happening in the community. (Please Share)

Day 92: This was an interesting read. MidYork really hasn't changed all that much, faces and names may be different but they still have the same objective, to serve you. We as a small country library can reach out to them for help in getting what our patrons need. They still have movies only DVD's instead of 8mm. The bookmobile may be thing of the past but they are online with our Libby App were you can get ebooks audiobooks and magazines to read. I would love to see a picture of the bookmobile if it came here? (Please Share)

Day 91: National Library Week is coming up. I thought I would be fun to see what they did in 1991 as compared to the images we use today. The themes may be different but they have same message. We want you to stay connected to the library. We are here in your community to help any way we can from finding the right book to read to your children to finding a job with use of our computers. So stop on buy see what we have to offer. I can hook you up with a library card if you don't have one. (please Share)

Day 90: What a lovely note from Midyork. Looks like the CPR course was a hit. Did the library host many meeting for Midyork? Sounded like they enjoyed the library. I'm not sure who Barbara is but I wonder if she visited often. (Please Share) If this note rings a bell drop a comment below.

Day 89: Well I found it. On day 82 I put up the article about the CPR class. The photo below is some of the children that the library took care of while the mom's took the class. I found names on the back of the photo. They look like they're having a good time. (Please Share)

Day 88: I know I've missed a few days but so many things happened over the new year weekend. My plan for today was no photo post. I wanted to give you a year in review. The year 2021 went by very quickly. We started the year with hopes that the virus would go away. By February we had to close for a week because of Covid. We carefully moved through the months keeping the library clean as we could to keep our patrons safe. As spring turned to summer we were disappointed t...o find out that we were not having a park program. My summer reading program turned into a grab and go program. I was glad to see many parents coming each week to get the packets. I was happy to find out that the summer help program was sending me someone to help. Kira did a wonderful.job with summer packets and learning how to run the library. The patrons really liked her and I hope she comes back this year. September brought a new group to our library as we now host two cub scout troops. In October we hosted a Halloween party, with small success. The trunk or treating that or volunteer fire department was wonderful. We gave books out the kids and parents were very excited. I also started this post a day for a year expiriment. In late November we had planned a Christmas party that was cancelled because of a surge in Covid. The crafts packets were back in December for kids to do at home. We also gave books away and goody bag for the December festivities. I hope that 2022 will bring more craft days and summer programs. Thank you all for reading and sharing the posts. Day 82: This course sounds interesting. I assume more than six people signed up because I think I have a photo in the 1981 scrapbook of the children in the day care at the library. Does anyone remember taking this course? I wonder if courses like this are stilled offered to the public? (Please Share)

Day 81: Wow Saturday morning movies. Sounds like a fun time. I also notice that the library was closed the week between Christmas and New Years. Did this happen every year or was this normal hours? Just so you know I am open this week and I have craft packets for the week if you want to pick one up for the kids. (Please Share)

We just got some winter themed masks in at the library. They are still $4.00 a mask and the money stays in the library. I think these would make a great secret Santa or stocking gifts. Come in a take a peek. Thank You (Please Share)

I would just like everyone to know that because of COVID-19 we are still not able to take donations. We do not have the room to quarantine these items along with our regular books and books from other libraries. If we find items in the drop box we are disposing of them for safety reasons.
