This behavior by the NFL is outrageous. According to news reports the Washington Football Team surreptitiously filmed naked cheerleaders and then shared video and photos among management and outside parties like former Raider coach John Gruden. Why hasn't there been more accountability for this? Imagine if Amazon management had a program of secretly filming female employees in their changing rooms in order to share the "good bits" (yeah, they apparently said that) with management? Juneteenth (commenorating the end of slavery in the US - Emancipation Proclamation) is now a Federal Holiday. Texas (yes, a Red state) was the first state to make it an official holiday. The Union soldiers fighting to end slavery suffered over 600k casualties. Comparing the % of population to today would equate to almost 10 Million casualties. Amazon celebrates Black History Month by removing documentary of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas? How disturbing is that? Personally, I'm not a fan of Justice Thomas, but removing his documentary without explanation is troubling from a censorship standpoint (what's next, removing all news references to union busting by Amazon?). Another example of why qualified immunity should be abolished. She was successful, but many victims of police brutality are not. This went to trial, which means the town could have likely paid much less if they had wanted to settle. A Grandmother was arrested in her apartment while naked, chained to a chair (still naked) for hours at the police station, tasered repeatedly, and forced to wear a spit mask. Another example of the difference in treatment of motorists depending on their race. These are not opinions, but an analysis of data reported by the police. This is why Qualified Immunity for municipalities (not just individual police officers) should be revoked immediately. How would that change things? After several multi-million dollar judgments against towns across the state we'd see an immediate and permanent change in policing practices. Police reform is impossible without this change in the law. There is no excuse in NY with a Democratic Governor, House and Senate.
