Attitude adjustment Day #1.. When I end up heaving more than the horse in about 5 minutes, im not sure whose more chubby. Me or the horse. . Regardless, feeling the need to not listen and walk all over people is NOT okay! This boy is getting that reminder.

Shared : A BIT OF KNOWLEDGE: A study done back around 2002-2003 using pressure sensing stickers in the horses mouth found that tom thumb bits (the classic straight shank variety) actually put pressure on the horse's mouth even when the reins are fully slack or removed. The bit, because of the design, never fully releases pressure and that ANY contact or pressure with that bit was enough to raise a horse's heart rate (sign of stress) and that most of the horses in the study a...lso exhibited other stress signs, from facial expressions to chomping, or swishing tail, shifting feet, etc. The same group did a follow up study where they looked at the mouths of horses for whom the tom thumb was their primary bit and found what the researchers labeled "moderate to severe" nerve damage to the tongue and bars. Horses in the control group did not have nearly the same frequency nor severity of nerve damage. A newly acquainted friend, used kinesology tape on herself! Here is her result. Yes- I’ve been using that since 2003 (on humans , then animals) and so thankful they made fur-stickable tape !!! Here’s an example of the skin lift effect- see where the bruising is gone/the strips of tape were over that. Was a hoof blow to medial quadriceps and lots of swelling, even below knee joint.

Well a 3 mile first solo ride with this mare. We worked through alot to get out, but how far she has come with her separation anxiety is unreal! Very proud of this one

Well, although it's supposed to be a wet weekend! Still we are headed to otter creek for our final hoorah.
