ANNOUNCING POLO LATER THIS MONTH! The Stables At Knox is pleased to host a polo match which will take place on September 18th, 2016 at Chur Equestrian Center (Knox Field) on Knox Road in East Aurora, New York - Come and enjoy a great polo match and tailgating. One car $50 includes up to eight people! Award will be given for best tailgating display. The award will be two tickets to the Knox Memorial Cup 2017 Champagne Brunch. The photo above is of tailgating during the Knox Memorial Cup 2016. Vehicles may arrive after 12:30pm. The polo match will begin at 2:00pm. There is something so beautiful about hay bales in a field. Rolled hay bales against a honey colored field and a background of blue skies and billowy clouds. The farmer that has just completed mowing the fields in Knox Farm State Park mows at a time of year which is not optimal in terms of timing for the best product. That is because he is careful to mow well outside of nesting season for the various avian habitats in the park. For instance the bobolink which is one of the ...largest group of residents there. The breeding habitats of the bobolink are in open grassy fields especially hay fields. Bobolinks forage on or near the ground and mainly eat seeds and insects. The Buffalo Audubon Society has listed among their aspirations for Knox Farm State Park, Promote grassland birds and bird friendly habitat management practices. And Promote Knox Farm State Park as a demonstration site for sustainable and bird-friendly agriculture. Thank you to those who strive to preserve the habitats of wild-life in our lovely park.

HEARTWARMING SIGHT OF PONIES IN THE STABLES ONCE AGAIN. Thank you to Greg Brown, The Manager of Knox Farm State Park and to the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation for allowing some of the polo ponies from the Knox Memorial Cup to spend the evening in the historic 1927 equestrian stables in the park. Thank you to Jourdan Stevenson-Cooper for providing for and removal of the bedding for each stall. It was so heartwarming to see the stables, which is eligible to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places, being used as it was always intended to be.

KNOX ROAD PARKING PASSES Parking passes bought from now on will be distributed on a WILL CALL basis. When entering the Polo Field area on Knox Road coming from Seneca and Grey Streets, the person at the first check point will have a list of names and the Knox Road Parking passes. People can come as early as 11:30. but not before.
