RocketFest is one of the most attended family events at Kopernik. We had to cancel it due to the COVID-19 last year, but this year it's ON. After 6:30 pm on Friday, April 23, you will not be able to register online for the Race to the Stars. !f you decide at the last minute that you would like to participate, you can still register (in person) on Saturday. Saturday registration will start at 5:30 pm, the race begins at 6:30 pm.

Join us live at 8 a.m. EDT (12:00 UTC) from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida for a news update on NASA's SpaceX Crew-2 mission, targeted for liftoff Thurs...., April 22 at 6:11 a.m. EDT (10:11 UTC). The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and Crew Dragon Endeavour spacecraft will carry astronauts Shane Kimbrough and Megan McArthur of NASA, Thomas Pesquet of the European Space Agency and Akihiko Hoshide of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency to the International Space Station. Experts from NASA, SpaceX, ESA, JAXA, and the U.S. Space Force 45th Weather Squadron will discuss the launch.

This week's Friday Night Livestream Program is America's Forgotten Space Program: GEMINII by Phil Cooper. Phil Cooper is an Oneonta, NY, native and a graduate of SUNY Oneonta with a duel major of Business Economics and Anthropology. Phil has been fascinated with spaceflight his whole life; he attended Apollo and Shuttle Launches and met and and talked to numerous astronauts including 2 moonwalkers. He built historically accurate replicas of spacecraft (Phil's Apollo 11 exhibi...t was Kopernik last year) and extensively studied each NASA program of Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo. Phil is also Amateur Astronomer. He built a 6reflector and a 16 reflector and regularly attends Stellafane Telescope makers conference. Phil worked at Verizon for 25 years as a training creator and development coordinator and speech writer. In his free time, Phil takes every chance he gets to go with his family to Disney World as well as to the beach in Rockport Mass. He has a large Sci-Fi and Space collectable collection and is active in local charity organizations. Phil will be sharing his passion about spaceflights and knowledge about GEMINI program with us this coming Friday, January 29, at 7 pm. The presentation will be streamed live on the Kopernik YouTube channel.
