Trees for Tribs will provide free native New York seedlings to protect streams. Our staff can also aid with plant selection, creating a planting plan, site preparation, advice on project installation, and offer other information to improve the odds of success for your project. We will work with you to provide species that help you meet your goals for planting. Planting trees makes a big difference in the health and stability of streams while simultaneously promoting commun...ity resilience. Anyone in the Hudson Valley that owns, manages, or can partner with a landowner that has property along a stream can receive free plants. We encourage you to recruit volunteers in your community and work with local environmental groups. Submit your application by March 1st for a spring planting from May or June 2021. Download and submit the two-page application found here: www.dec.ny.gov/docs/remediation_hudson_pdf/hrewtftap14.pdf. For more information, please visit the DEC website: www.dec.ny.gov/lands/43668.html. Have a question about the Hudson Estuary Trees for Tribs Program? Here are more useful recycling tips to be aware of! Repost @recyclebycity with @make_repost #TuesdayTip: Be sure to break down those boxes to make room for more recyclables, then close the lid. Keeping the lid on your recycling bin is important because:... Paper that's been exposed to rain/snow is less valuable for recycling. Wet paper sticks to other recyclables making sorting tricky. Water from one cart can spoil more recyclables during transport. See more

For the first time, two infestations of the spotted lanternfly have been reported in Orangeburg and Sloatsburg. The spotted lanternfly is a threat to trees and agricultural crops including grapes, hops, apples, stone fruits and blueberries. Residents can serve as citizen scientists and look for and report any sightings. If you believe you have found a SLF egg mass, take a photo and note the location. Then report it to the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets - https://survey123.arcgis.com//a08d60f6522043f5bd04229e00ac For more information, please visit: https://nysipm.cornell.edu//invasive-s/spotted-lanternfly/ #keeprocklandbeautiful #rocklandcounty #cornellcooperativeextensionofrockland #spottedlanternfly

This fall a collaborative municipal clean energy program launched in Rockland County, transitioning close to one fourth of Rockland’s population onto renewable energy. Rockland Community Power, a Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) program, provides 100% renewable energy at affordable, gua...ranteed rates and protects consumers from predatory suppliers.
