KUDOS Design Collaboratory 18.01.2022

We’re excited to share John Kudos’ upcoming talk at the MuseumNext Digital Exhibitions Summit on Dec 6-8. He will be sharing details of how we conceived the Between Four Freedoms experiential project for artist Shaun Leonardo at the Four Freedoms Park (Roosevelt Island, NY) where we used #machinelearning #teachablemachine to turn the visitors phones into a bridge to experience the animated narratives at the park. MuseumNext just published a pre-conference interview of me sha...ring my personal thoughts on the importance of trust and partnership in exploring new mediums. If you’re interested in learning more about how we arrived at machine learning as a solution, please join me at the Digital Exhibitions Summit (virtual with live Q&A session) on Dec 7, 1:30pm GMT / 8:30am EST. @jkudos @museumnextmagazine #fourfreedomsparkconservancy https://www.museumnext.com//in-conversation-with-john-kud/

Repost from @centerforarch :The November 2021 election will lead to unprecedented turnover in city government: In addition to the mayor, 40 elected officials will reach term limits, including four borough presidents and up to 35 City Council members. In response to this singular opportunity for change, AIA New York has partnered with MIT's Civic Design Data Lab (CDDL) on#VisualizeNYC2021, a two-part visualization project exploring four themes that are of critical importanc...e to New Yorkers: the Evolving Public Realm, Climate Change and Resilience, Right to Housing, and Public Health. Our journey to the edge of the known universe begins with science. Power of Science, a new permanent exhibition at Frost Science (@frostscience) in Miami, Florida, invites visitors to explore how science pushes the boundaries of possibility as they learn about groundbreaking research and discoveries by scientists. The exhibit is a playground for curious minds filled with tangible and digital experiences spanning a 6,000-square-foot area, along with showcase of collection p...ieces and instruments used across various scientific fields. New-York Historical Society’s exhibition: Colonists, Citizens, Constitutions displays what the institution believes to be the largest public exhibition of state constitutions ever, provides a rare window into the ingenuity and complicated compromises that established the United States. It’s a chronological romp through how Americans began to see themselves and how they understood self-governance. Louise Mirrer, Chief Executive of the Historical Society. The exhibition, ...as centerpiece of a linked series of shows focused on citizenship and American democracy, couldn’t be more relevant to concluding 2020 census and upcoming presidential election. Full article here (2 min. read) : https://www.nytimes.com//new-york-historical-society-state We launched the website in February 2020, in collaboration with the Dorothy Tapper Goldman Foundation. On Monday, the NFL team in Washington announced that it would be retiring the name Redskins and its feather-topped Indian head logo, abruptly reversing its decades-long staunch defense of a name long considered a racial slur. The team has long been in the spotlight, partly because of its checkered racial past. Indians are central to U.S. national identity. You have Indians on sports teams (logo), all sorts of other things that have nothing to do with Indians or each other.... But it’s meant to say something about authenticity, about Americanness. - Paul Chaat Smith, curator at National Museum of the American Indian. Full article here (3 min. read): https://www.nytimes.com//washington-football-logo-native-a On January 2018 the exhibit Americans opened at the National Museum of American Indian in Washington D.C.. We worked with Studio Joseph (@studio.joseph), the lead exhibition designer of this project, to ensure clear typographic hierarchy and optimum production/installation methods for all graphic components across all galleries and surfaces.
