It is always the right time to start Chiropractic care in your pregnancy journey. My best recommendation is to begin when you’re trying to conceive. This makes sure your body is functioning at its best with minimal nerve interference. Did you know, those with unexplained infertility sometimes find that chiropractic care helps them achieve their dreams? (Less stress, better nerve functioning, better body balance, improved nutrition) Maybe you just found out your pregnant. ...Congrats! Start your Chiro practice journey now if you can. We will establish a plan to maintain health, wellness, and stay pain free for as long as possible. Did you reach second trimester without incident? That’s awesome! Definitely start your Chiropractic care. Previous injuries have a habit of letting you know they are still lingering right about now. Your posture is changing. Your center of gravity is changing. Both equal biomechanical stress and are likely to lead to worsening discomforts into the next several months. Woohoo! Third trimester. You’re almost there!! Please find a Chiropractor. Low back pain. Sacral pain. Pubic pain. Can’t sleep. Pressure points. Round ligament pain. Thigh pain. Sciatica. Upper back strain. Breech baby. Transverse baby. Posterior facing baby. '. . . . More info in today’s story or the Pregnancy Highlight. Do you have questions about starting Chiropractic care during your pregnancy? Reach out to us! We’d love to answer your questions. #pregnancy #prenatal #prenatalchiropractic #upstate #cny #centralnewyork #syracuseny #pregnancyjourney #pregnancyproblems #bewell #upstatenewyork

Do you know about choline? Choline is an essential nutrient found in many foods and unfortunately not found in all prenatals. Choline provides the body with methyl groups to assist in metabolism and help synthesize the phospholipid layer of cell members. It’s also used by the body to produce acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter important for memory, muscles, mood and other nervous system functions, along with gene expression.... While our bodies can produce small amounts of choline in the liver, it is not enough to meet demand. It must be provided by foods. You can get choline in these foods: meat, poultry, fish, dairy, & eggs (animal products contain the highest amounts). Cruciferous vegetables are also great. Small amounts in nuts, seeds, & whole grains. During pregnancy, your body needs about 450mg/day. That need increases to 550mg/day during lactation. Your supplement only needs to contain this amount if you are vegan/vegetarian. If your prenatal doesn’t have choline in it, you can take it separately. During pregnancy, choline is protective to the development of the fetal brain, specifically the hippocampus, and the neural tube development. What other nutrition tips would you like for pregnancy? Do you see it?! Did you have chiropractic care during your pregnancy? Tell us what kind of results you had below This is one of the most visible transformations lately! The change from an anterior pelvic tilt to neutral is amazing! ... I drew on 2 ways for you to see this. The arrows show the change in pelvic tilt. When this parent to be reviewed the photos she said, My butt looks great! We had a great giggle together, and I was so happy to hear she felt better than when she walked in. The second way you can see the change is where the belly meets the thighs. Before there was a continuation from one to the other, after you can see a clear division. Folate vs. Folic acid... What’s the difference? Does it matter?? ... Folate is the natural form of vitamin B9 typically found in fruits and vegetables. A problem with getting folate solely from your food is that it degrades quickly and easily with manipulation of the food, such as through chopping or cooking.... Folic acid is a synthetic form of B9 usually found in supplements because of its stability and ease at which it enters the intestines. In other words, it’s more absorbable. Folic acid needs to be converted to methyltetrahydrofolate MTHF in the body which requires several enzymes before your body can use it. The abbreviation MTHF may sound familiar to you. Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase or MTHFR is an enzyme many have become familiar with due to its potential to mutate which can interfere with the enzymes ability to readily convert folic acid for use as MTHF. This gene mutation has a large implication in the world of fertility and pregnancy as it has been known to cause recurrent miscarriages, and pregnancies with neural tube defects, such a spina bifid, along with many other conditions in adults. This gene mutation is not usually tested for unless you have a high homocysteine level or other health indications. One way to make sure you are getting the appropriate mount of folate (B9) in your diet during pregnancy is to utilize a supplement that contains methylated folate which bypasses the need for conversion in your body and circumvents any potentially unknown gene variant with MTHFR. Methylated folate goes by a few names on prenatal bottles. You can easily pull a list off of Google or ask your healthcare provider. What other nutrition tips would you like for pregnancy? Happy lovely Fall weekend! Yes, this is in my backyard. I enjoy a few minutes in the crisp morning air drinking hot tea as part of my wake up routine. In the summer, I use this as grounding (meditation) time by letting my bare feet rest in the grass. . . . .... I know it’s hard to commit to the cold morning air when it still gets decently warm midday, but let yourself bundle up first thing in the morning and lose layers throughout the day. This will keep your immune system healthier. Also, don’t forget: Dry your damp hair fully before going out into the cold air!

October is International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. This month serves as a special time for families to share memories of their child lost during pregnancy or infancy for any reason, including SIDS, stillbirth and miscarriage. These losses claim a piece of your heart and the grief is often difficult for families to manage. Resources are available to support you, and I would be honored to assist you in locating them. The story of loss is yours to keep inside o...r to share. Sharing can help other parents experiencing similar grief and even help others focus on their own pregnancy and postpartum health. Vitamin D is an essential vitamin for all of us. It helps your body to absorb calcium helping strengthen your bones (baby too) and teeth. It helps to promote healthy eyesight and skin. Vitamin D also helps stave off the winter blues and Seasonal Affective Disorder. So how do you get it?! The sun! Right?! Sort of... in the summer, yes! Over the winter... in NY... mmm, no. The sun has to be at the correct angle to provide UV to help your body synthesize vitamin D from the sun.... (Not to mention, your skin has to be exposed.) We don’t get that in the winter here. You have to supplement. Everyone should, but especially if pregnant! You can get small amounts in food: salmon & sardines offer the most. Your prenatal probably has the minimal amount 600-800 IU or so. During pregnancy, you should have 1000 IU daily to maintain already healthy blood levels; or 4000-5000 IU daily if you need to raise your levels. You may need an extra supplement for this. (Thank you winter!) There’s some benefits of keeping your Vitamin D levels in the optimal range of 40-80 ng/mL.
