Its difficult to put into words the numb feeling that came over me, and undoubtedly so many others, when I read the news of the tragic loss of dear friend and Eventing stalwart, Tremaine Cooper. He was so many things to our our sport, particularly determined to produce safer, challenging, creative and aesthetically appealing cross country courses around the country! For us in Area 1, Tremaine had put his stamp on the tracks at Green Mountain Horse Association, Millbrook and ...Larkin Hill Horse Trials, to name a few. Quiet, unassuming, incredible work ethic, exceptional husband, father, course designer & friend! Tremaine possessed so many of the mighty characteristics that 3-day eventers embody! As a community this has been a challenging year for everyone, however losing someone in a tragic accident just tears your heart out! Its another painful reminder to us all to live each day like it's our last, because you never know how life may change in the blink of an eye! Perhaps when the chips are down show a little more love, compassion, patience, kindness and tolerance because in the scheme of life that's what truly matters, the rest is pretty much just fluff! My heart aches for his family, Marion, James and Sadie, his dogs and those of us left behind to struggle with the loss of a truly special person. Our Eventing community will surely surround Tremaine's family with the love, support & strength they will need to heal from unimaginable grief.
