Hints of soylent green in our future. FOOD SUPPLY | ESSENTIAL WORKERS CNN Business April 13, 2020 Food supply issues are a genuine concern. As with all scary stuff I am not pointing this out to encourage panic, the opposite, I encourage preparation. Everybody should normally have a 2 week supply of food and other essentials in their home on hand in case of emergencies. The stress points currently appear to be, with varying degrees, factories and to a lesser degree, with truckers who have been anecdotally complaining about worsening conditions for them to get food and to find safe restrooms on the road.

HEALTH EQUITY | TESTING | NYC | BROOKLYN NY Post April 1, 2020 Look I realize this is the NY Post, but at least they are covering this topic. Poverty appears to be influencing health outcomes in this crisis. I do not buy the arguments put forward about the lack of testing. The difficult threshold for testing exists citywide. I would also argue that it is possible, even more sadly, that some who do not have health insurance or are concerned about their immigration status may not be as determined to be tested, which could alter the numbers again against some of the people in these zip codes. I think that the ratio of testing and care should better reflect the actual need and that conversation has to involve the date on this map.

This is us government playing mean clown. US citizens have an absolute right of return subject to quarantine when near US ports. Other nations citizens have no rights but to stay with ship and follow maritime law. Something to think about if you ever go on cruise to travel with US flag chartered vessels.... Most shipyards don't build cruise ships, although they probably could if they so chose. They build military ships or smaller ships like yachts. Since there are no shipyards building cruise ships, there can be no U.S.-flagged cruise ships. GOVERNANCE | NYC Washington Post April 1, 2020 They all misstated and/or downplayed a lot of important info. Still do. Every last one of them. Apparently this is to be expected in a pandemic. Like really expected that politicians will fall short. They all need to let the actual health experts help guide policy on health issues. And they all need to be more transparent and speak clearly about tough choices and difficult paths forward. Not to be nice or competent but because they need the buy in from the public in this crisis. Cuomo is calculating and knows this. He is still not fully embracing it but he is doing better. At every level this needs to happen.
