Feast of the Presentation of The Lord (February 2) - Stained Glass Window in the Church of Saint Aedan.
Today, Easter Sunday, I am posting the last of the stained glass windows from Marymount College's chapel, now beautifying the Church of St. Aedan in Pearl River. May you be blessed with a home filled with good health, harmony, joy, and love under the watch of the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus Christ who on this day, we celebrate His resurrection into heaven.
Meeting on the Way to Calvary
Jesus Appears to His Mother Mother after Resurrection
Christ above in torment hangs, Mary beneath beholds the pangs, of her dying, glorious Son. -- We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you, because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.
THE PRESENTATION OF THE LORD When the days were completed for their purification according to the law of Moses, they took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. Luke 2:22 Mary and Joseph took Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem forty days after he was born and according to the Law of Moses, they presented him to the Lord. Also, following Jewish custom, while they were at the Temple, Mary was purified as all new mothers were. This is why the Presentation is sometimes called the Feast of the Purification of Mary. The Holy Family followed the Law and the Jewish customs faithfully and humbly.
THE MAGNIFICAT The Prayer Of Mary My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. ... From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name. He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation. He has shown the strength of his arm, he has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. He has come to the help of his servant Israel for he remembered his promise of mercy, the promise he made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children forever. (Lk 1: 46-55) See more
THE VISITATION Elizabeth, who had been called barren," is going to be a mother. Gabriel, sent by God, informes Mary. Mary set out in haste to a town of Judah (Lk 1:39). Mary entered the house of Zachary and greeted Elizabeth (Lk 1:40). Mary rejoices with her cousin and promises to stay at her side. With Mary, God's grace enters that house, for he has made her his mediatrix.

THE ESPOUSAL OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY WINDOW The espousal of Joseph and Mary is celebrated in the Roman Catholic Church on January 23rd. It is certain that a real matrimony was contracted by Joseph and Mary. Still Mary is called espoused to Joseph (his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, Matthew 1:18) because the matrimony was never consummated.
THE ADORATION OF THE MAGI WINDOW: And behold, the star that they had seen at its rising preceded them, until it came and stopped over the place where the child was. They were overjoyed at seeing the star, and on entering the house they saw the child with Mary his mother. They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
THE SHEPHERDS AT THE MANGER "So they went in haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger. When they saw this, they made known the message that had been told them about this child. All who heard it were amazed by what had been told them by the shepherds. And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, just as it had been told to them."
