Training is the very core of our existence. The saying goes Don’t practice until you get it right, practice until you can’t get it wrong. Today members of The LaGrange Professional Fire Fighters held a search drill. The premise was simple, take away your sight and use your other senses to find a brick in a pitch black room. Sounds simple but between the weight of the gear, the loss of feeling in your hands from the gloves, and an unfamiliar environment, it’s harder than it s...ounds. Training like this is essential for us to build muscle memory. Fire scenes are naturally chaotic, and if we ever have to search for a trapped victim having these skills engrained in us will only increase our competency and efficiency on the fireground. Shortly after completing this training the members were dispatched to three separate medical calls in 42 minutes.

Our hearts are heavy today as we mourn the loss of FF Jared Lloyd of the Spring Valley Fire Department. FF Lloyd lost his life while battling a large fire at an assisted living facility. The LaGrange Professional Firefighters would like to express their deepest condolences to our brothers and sisters of the Spring Valley Fire Department, the entire Rockland County Emergency Services community, and the friends and family members of FF Lloyd. We will keep everyone who lost their life or was injured in this fire in our thoughts and prayers.

Recently members of the LaGrange Professional Firefighters Local 3818 were dispatched to an Auto Accident with injuries. While the first arriving ambulance provided EMS care to the drivers, the second arriving crew recognized a large amount of motor oil rapidly approaching an open storm drain. Speedy Dry was applied to the oil flow stopping its progress, potentially preventing groundwater contamination. The incident was stabilized further and medical care was rendered to all ...parties involved. Members were assisted at the scene by @nyspolice and @brandls_towing who were requested with their spill mitigation equipment. Due to the large amount of motor oil that was spilled @brandls_towing brought their street sweeper to the scene to ensure that the roadway was in as best condition possible as we are entering motorcycle season. LaGrange Professional Firefighters would like to express our gratitude to all assisting parties on this dynamic and complex event. See more

In case of fire, firefighters need to be able to quickly access hydrants. Please help us by keeping hydrants clear of snow.

Most people don’t ever think about their local fire commissioner election. When they dial 911, they expect the right people to show up, with the right tools to help. Now more then ever, that security is on the line. More and more often, Dutchess residents may not be getting the right people, with the right tools when they need it. This isn’t hyperbole. The phrase no medic available is broadcast across 911 frequencies daily.... Please WRITE IN Jeff Kaiser for LaGrange Fire commissioner. As a retired fire department lieutenant, he has the knowledge and experience needed to guide our department into the future. The LaGrange professional Firefighter EMTs, and Paramedics proudly support Jeff Kaiser. Polls are open Tonight Tuesday December 8th, between 6-9pm.

Congratulations to Firefighter Jeff Frazier for his retirement after 42 years of service to the LaGrange Fire District. Jeff has served the district as an outstanding Firefighter, EMT, and as the fleet mechanic through his years of service. Jeff was one of the Charter members of the LaGrange Professional Firefighters association. Even though he was the most senior member in the department, he was also the hardest working member. Jeff is a monument to what a Man, a Friend, and a Firefighter should be. Thank you for your service, you will be missed.
