Just a reminder that today is the service for Scott Abrams. Scott was a very active member of our community. He was our current association president and the past men's club president. He was always there to offer a helping hand. You could find Scott flipping burgers, bar tending, singing by the camp fire or having the closest seat to the stage. He always had a huge smile on his face when the music was playing, but especially when it it was being played by his son Michael.... Scott is going to be deeply missed by the entire association. Please keep his wife Val and his son Michael in your thoughts and prayers. Below are the arrangements for his service: Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Joseph J. Smith on Route 6 in Mahopac from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm with a short service at 2:30 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There will be a private funeral in Long Island on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation or Donate Life America. And of course please keep Val and Michael in your thoughts and prayers.

OFFICE OF THE SUPERVISOR Dear Lake Community Residents: As the November 10th vote for the proposed Somers Sewer District No. 2 is quickly coming upon us, I’d li...ke to address some of the misinformation around this project in the clearest and simplest terms. 1. Sewers are necessary to help improve water quality in Lake Lincolndale and Lake Shenorock. These lake communities were identified as the highest priority areas for sewer diversion in a study commissioned by Westchester County in 1998. The need for sewers is not a creation of the Town Board. Sewers are not going to solve all of the problems - stormwater improvements and in-lake measures are needed as well - but diverting 325,000 gallons of sewage per day from the groundwater that flows into the lakes is a critical step. 2. There is no false motive for the Sewer District. Sewers do not result in any tax reassessment, there is no private developer waiting in the wings poised to benefit, and no backroom deals. This project is about improving public health, environmental health, and the health of our community. 3. Lincoln Hall is not in the Sewer District and does not benefit from this project. The proposed District is only the 989 parcels listed in the Map, Plan, and Report. The only people that benefit from this project are the property owners in Shenorock and Lincolndale who no longer have an environmental liability in their yards. 4. The debt service is capped at $16.2M. This project leverages existing State and Federal environmental improvement grant programs to fund the majority of sewer construction. The sewer will be built out as quickly as those funds are obtained. If sufficient outside grant funds are not obtained, borrowing is capped at the $16.2M stated in the Map, Plan, and Report. This cannot be increased without new Public Hearings and NYS Comptroller approval. 5. Now is the time. It has taken decades of advocacy by the Town to get the votes aligned in the County Legislature to permit sewer flow from Somers to be sent to the County wastewater treatment plant in Peekskill. There are no guarantees that the $10M will be held for another decade if this project fails to pass, there is a good chance that it could be reallocated, and no guarantee that outside funds, political will, or treatment capacity will exist again in the future. Take the time to read project documents posted on the Town’s website for factual information at somersny.com, email [email protected] if you have any questions, request an absentee ballot by November 3rd if you need, and whether you are in favor of the District or not, vote on November 10th to help shape your community’s future. Sincerely, Rick Morrissey Town Supervisor SOMERS SEWER DISTRICT #2 Mandatory Referendum Vote November 10, 2020 Somers Town House 6AM to 9PM THE FACTS The Annual fee for sewer services is set at $1,187.00, which includes up to $16.2M in debt service. The debt to the District CAN NOT be increased without Public Hearings and NYS Comptroller’s approval. Phase I residents will pay $591.00 annually for sewer services until such a time as the funding becomes available to expand the system. At full build-out, all residents will pay a flat $1,187.00 per year. There will be NO increase in your property assessment as a result of being now in the sewer district. Your sewer fees will appear on your property tax bill. Your property tax will NOT increase as a result of being in the sewer district. ETUs /ATUs ARE NOT approved for large scale applications such as in Lake Lincolndale or Lake Shenorock communities according to the Westchester County Dept. of Health.
