Remember, it's Election Day in the Village for four positions: Mayor, two Trustees and the Village Justice. Polls are open from noon to 9:00 pm. Please wear your mask and remember to be polite to your fellow Lake Placidians and socially distance inside Town Hall.

Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday, March 14th, 2021 at 2:00 A.M. Before you go to bed tonight, set your clocks forward one hour to spring ahead. Don't forget, this is a great time to also replace the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors and test then to ensure they are working properly!

The boys and leaders of Troop 10, Lake Placid, are asking for support of a great trip and opportunity for some local boys to the Florida Keys. One of the boys, Warren Clark, is also an active member of the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department and one of our most recent Interior Firefighters. Warren is finishing up the steps to become the next Eagle Scout of Troop 10 and has become an asset to the LPVFD. Please consider donating to great cause and support the future leaders of our community and the nation.
The last year was definitely one for the books. Our department faced a lot of new challenges and our way of doing business changed throughout the months. We welcomed new members and we said goodbye to some way too soon. We trained differently, responded differently, and watched the world change before our very eyes. But one thing that did not change was our desire to serve our wonderful community and the people that live and visit our town and village. Our final response total for the year was 300 calls, and for every one of them our members showed up ready to mitigate the emergency at hand, even during these unprecedented times. So here’s to 2021, where we will continue to respond, train, and keep improving in order to serve our great community. From all of us here at the LPVFD we would like to wish you all a happy and safe New Year!
Even with the cooler temperatures the last few days, much of the ice on the surrounding lakes is still not thick enough to walk on. Please be safe this winter
On 12/21/20 at 21:44, the LPVFD responded to a structure fire with 3 trucks and 22 firefighters. Mutual aid was provided by Saranac Lake, Bloomingdale, Keene, and Upper Jay, with Paul-Smiths Gabriels fire department standing by our station and responding to an alarm activation during that time. All units were back in service at 03:27 a.m.
ALERT- River Road is closed due to flooding in the area of 500 River Road. Please avoid this area. Here are some statistics to remember if you are faced with t...he decision of crossing a flooded roadway: 1. As little as 1 foot of water can move most cars off the road. 2. Just 6 inches of fast moving flood water can sweep a person off of his or her feet. 3. Most flood related deaths occur at night and are vehicular. See more
From all of us here at the LPVFD, we would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a wonderful and safe holiday season!
