This is a personal favorite of mine! SkinCeuticals Discoloration Defense is a great product to treat hyperpigmentation (brown spots). After pregnancy, I had a difficult time with melasma around my eyes and on my forehead. This product has helped (in addition to chemical peels and Morpheus 8 treatments) to significantly reduce the brown. Notice I say REDUCE! Melasma, in particular, is very hard to treat and most treatments and products will reduce it but not completely take it... away. Disco Defense contains 3% tranexamic acid, 5% niacinamide (Vitamin B3), 1% kojic acid (it does NOT contain hydroquinone). With daily use, it helps to reduce the appearance of skin discoloration, improve brightness, and minimize the reoccurrence of discoloration. Done early in the OR on Thursday meant some time to play! Here @elenithepa is treating me with Morpheus 8. This treatment is microneedling with radiofrequency. First, after thoroughly cleaning the face, numbing cream is applied for 1 hour. We then treated my face and neck (this is personalized based on the patients concerns and goals). The treatment works by creating microinjuries to the skin, this then stimulates cells in the skin to produce collagen and elastin. The radiofr...equency adds additional stimulation of collagen production. (Did you know that after age 30 collagen levels in the skin drop by 1-2% each year!) All of this leads to tightening of the skin, improvement in scarring, tone and texture. Typically a series of 3-4 treatments are required, spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Recovery includes about 2-3 days of some redness and flaking.
