Reading #4: Luke 24:36b-48 24:36b While they were talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you." 24:37 They were startled and terrified, and thought that they were seeing a ghost.... 24:38 He said to them, "Why are you frightened, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? 24:39 Look at my hands and my feet; see that it is I myself. Touch me and see; for a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have." 24:40 And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 24:41 While in their joy they were disbelieving and still wondering, he said to them, "Have you anything here to eat?" 24:42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 24:43 and he took it and ate in their presence. 24:44 Then he said to them, "These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you--that everything written about me in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms must be fulfilled." 24:45 Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, 24:46 and he said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, 24:47 and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 24:48 You are witnesses of these things.

Reading #3: Psalm 4 4:1 Answer me when I call, O God of my right! You gave me room when I was in distress. Be gracious to me, and hear my prayer. 4:2 How long, you people, shall my honor suffer shame? How long will you love vain words, and seek after lies? Selah... 4:3 But know that the LORD has set apart the faithful for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him. 4:4 When you are disturbed, do not sin; ponder it on your beds, and be silent. Selah 4:5 Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the LORD. 4:6 There are many who say, "O that we might see some good! Let the light of your face shine on us, O LORD!" 4:7 You have put gladness in my heart more than when their grain and wine abound. 4:8 I will both lie down and sleep in peace; for you alone, O LORD, make me lie down in safety.

Tent Day at SILC April 30th will mark the first big tent day at Southwestern Independent Living Center, 843 N Main St., Jamestown! The tent will be open from No...on until 3:30 p.m. and will host representatives from WIC, SNAP, The Chautauqua Center and SILC. In an effort to assist persons in the county, area service providers are once again finding unique ways to reach our communities. Last year SILC hosted the Big Red Tent Days, and this year they are continuing this effort by hosting various service providers under their new Big Blue Tent. The service providers will be available to the public for information, program enrollments and to answer questions you may have regarding their various programs. Sarah Gilbert, representing The Chautauqua Center, will be available to discuss TCC and the services they have to offer, including insurance enrollments, an on-site pharmacy, information about their physicians and the areas they specialize in, as well as their behavioral health programs. Grace McKenzie, representing WIC, will be available to discuss the Women’s, Infants and Children’s program and the new ‘debit’ card the program now utilizes. She will also have information on other events and programs she is participating in. Alana Meyers, representing the SNAP program, will answer questions regarding eligibility, recent changes in SNAP benefits that were enacted due to the COVID pandemic, and will also be available to set up appointments for new enrollments! Wendy Pitoniak, the new NY Connects/No Wrong Door representative for SILC, and Judy Wroda will be under the tent, also, to assist with information regarding the programs that Southwestern Independent Living Center administers, as well as other programs that are available to the public within Chautauqua County. No appointments are necessary to attend this event, but it is requested that social distancing be observed as well as masks be worn while at the event. The tent will be located on the front lawn of SILC and will be accessible via the sidewalk. There will be a drawing for a handmade blanket for those who stop in to see the service providers, and coloring books and crayons for the children! If you are needing assistance, or information on services that are available in the county, please call SILC at 716 661 3010.

Reading #2: 1 John 3:1-7 3:1 See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 3:2 Beloved, we are God's children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is.... 3:3 And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure. 3:4 Everyone who commits sin is guilty of lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. 3:5 You know that he was revealed to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. 3:6 No one who abides in him sins; no one who sins has either seen him or known him. 3:7 Little children, let no one deceive you. Everyone who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.

Reading #4: John 10:11-18 10:11 "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 10:12 The hired hand, who is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away--and the wolf snatches them and scatters them.... 10:13 The hired hand runs away because a hired hand does not care for the sheep. 10:14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, 10:15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. And I lay down my life for the sheep. 10:16 I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. 10:17 For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again. 10:18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it up again. I have received this command from my Father."

Reading #1: Acts 3:12-19 3:12 When Peter saw it, he addressed the people, "You Israelites, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we had made him walk? 3:13 The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our ancestors has glorified his servant Jesus, whom you handed over and rejected in the presence of Pilate, though he had decided to release him.... 3:14 But you rejected the Holy and Righteous One and asked to have a murderer given to you, 3:15 and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses. 3:16 And by faith in his name, his name itself has made this man strong, whom you see and know; and the faith that is through Jesus has given him this perfect health in the presence of all of you. 3:17 "And now, friends, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers. 3:18 In this way God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, that his Messiah would suffer. 3:19 Repent therefore, and turn to God so that your sins may be wiped out,

Reading #3: Psalm 23 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. 23:2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters;... 23:3 he restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for his name's sake. 23:4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff-- they comfort me. 23:5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD my whole life long.

Reading #4: John 20:19-31 20:19 When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you." 20:20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.... 20:21 Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you." 20:22 When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. 20:23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained." 20:24 But Thomas (who was called the Twin), one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 20:25 So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands, and put my finger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe." 20:26 A week later his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you." 20:27 Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe." 20:28 Thomas answered him, "My Lord and my God!" 20:29 Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe." 20:30 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book. 20:31 But these are written so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life in his name.

Reading #3: Psalm 133 133:1 How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity! 133:2 It is like the precious oil on the head, running down upon the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down over the collar of his robes.... 133:3 It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion. For there the LORD ordained his blessing, life forevermore.

Reading #2: 1 John 1:1-2:2 1:1 We declare to you what was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the word of life-- 1:2 this life was revealed, and we have seen it and testify to it, and declare to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us--... 1:3 we declare to you what we have seen and heard so that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. 1:4 We are writing these things so that our joy may be complete. 1:5 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him there is no darkness at all. 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him while we are walking in darkness, we lie and do not do what is true; 1:7 but if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1:9 If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; 2:2 and he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.

Reading #1: Acts 4:32-35 4:32 Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common. 4:33 With great power the apostles gave their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.... 4:34 There was not a needy person among them, for as many as owned lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold. 4:35 They laid it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need.

Reading #4: Matthew 22:34-46 22:34 When the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together, 22:35 and one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him.... 22:36 "Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?" 22:37 He said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 22:38 This is the greatest and first commandment. 22:39 And a second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." 22:41 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them this question: 22:42 "What do you think of the Messiah? Whose son is he?" They said to him, "The son of David." 22:43 He said to them, "How is it then that David by the Spirit calls him Lord, saying, 22:44 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet"'? 22:45 If David thus calls him Lord, how can he be his son?" 22:46 No one was able to give him an answer, nor from that day did anyone dare to ask him any more questions.

Reading #3: Psalm 90:1-6, 13-17 90:1 Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.... 90:3 You turn us back to dust, and say, "Turn back, you mortals." 90:4 For a thousand years in your sight are like yesterday when it is past, or like a watch in the night. 90:5 You sweep them away; they are like a dream, like grass that is renewed in the morning; 90:6 in the morning it flourishes and is renewed; in the evening it fades and withers. 90:13 Turn, O LORD! How long? Have compassion on your servants! 90:14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, so that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. 90:15 Make us glad as many days as you have afflicted us, and as many years as we have seen evil. 90:16 Let your work be manifest to your servants, and your glorious power to their children. 90:17 Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and prosper for us the work of our hands -- O prosper the work of our hands!

Reading #2: 1 Thessalonians 2:1-8 2:1 You yourselves know, brothers and sisters, that our coming to you was not in vain, 2:2 but though we had already suffered and been shamefully mistreated at Philippi, as you know, we had courage in our God to declare to you the gospel of God in spite of great opposition.... 2:3 For our appeal does not spring from deceit or impure motives or trickery, 2:4 but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the message of the gospel, even so we speak, not to please mortals, but to please God who tests our hearts. 2:5 As you know and as God is our witness, we never came with words of flattery or with a pretext for greed; 2:6 nor did we seek praise from mortals, whether from you or from others, 2:7 though we might have made demands as apostles of Christ. But we were gentle among you, like a nurse tenderly caring for her own children. 2:8 So deeply do we care for you that we are determined to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you have become very dear to us.

Reading #1: Deuteronomy 34:1-12 34:1 Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho, and the LORD showed him the whole land: Gilead as far as Dan, 34:2 all Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Western Sea,... 34:3 the Negeb, and the Plain -- that is, the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees -- as far as Zoar. 34:4 The LORD said to him, "This is the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, 'I will give it to your descendants'; I have let you see it with your eyes, but you shall not cross over there." 34:5 Then Moses, the servant of the LORD, died there in the land of Moab, at the Lord's command. 34:6 He was buried in a valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth-peor, but no one knows his burial place to this day. 34:7 Moses was one hundred twenty years old when he died; his sight was unimpaired and his vigor had not abated. 34:8 The Israelites wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days; then the period of mourning for Moses was ended. 34:9 Joshua son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, because Moses had laid his hands on him; and the Israelites obeyed him, doing as the LORD had commanded Moses. 34:10 Never since has there arisen a prophet in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face. 34:11 He was unequaled for all the signs and wonders that the LORD sent him to perform in the land of Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his servants and his entire land, 34:12 and for all the mighty deeds and all the terrifying displays of power that Moses performed in the sight of all Israel.
