April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (#SAAM), an annual campaign to raise public awareness about sexual assault & prevention and to educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence. Over the last year we have seen a rise in anti-Asian racism and hate crimes. @StopAAPIHate has documented nearly 4,000 hate crimes since March of 2020. A majority of these acts were reported by women. These violent incidents are rooted in longstanding anti-Asian racism that dates back to the 1800s in the United States, and that has continued.
