Guess which staffing firm delivered all these floats to agencies across NYC today? https://www.foxnews.com//cracker-barrel-new-fried-chicken-

I truly feel I could never get enough help. My clients have bigger lives than I do -- bigger jobs, aspirations, a higher bar. And yet they don't use as many assistant hours as I do on average. I have no grand conclusions here. I just know that like Sy Sperling (and Sy is an name that's very dear to me) who said, with the help of Heinz Marketing, I’m not just the president of Hair Club for Men, I’m also a client!, I use my personal assistants for help. Paid on my own credit ...card just like my clients. My life would not be as good without my assistants, period. Not just because they are my product, but because they have helped me whenever I've needed it in my personal life. They have been invaluable. Here is not the place to thank the 7 assistants I've used every week over the last 17 years, the ones I've secured in times of crisis, or those who have met me for four hours on given weekends to do boring tasks like filing papers. Even to sit across from me, patiently doing nothing, so I can deal with filing those papers without dying of boredom or frustration. All I can say is thank you to my assistants and clients who have made the life I've carved, and am still building for myself, possible. There are times when who you have helping makes all the difference.
Our sister company in London, Attic Recruitment, just launched their new website. We found each other 3 years ago on a job for Business Insider, and we have many of the same practices and values. https://www.atticrecruitment.co.uk/
Our name means: (of light or fire) glowing, gleaming, or flickering with a soft radiance marked by lightness or brilliance especially of expression... touching lightly on a surface Yesterday it showed up on Ben Belser's dictionary word of the day. He was my first employee in the summer of 2006 and we came up with it together.
Our assistants have told us that when they are asked by a client to do something that takes as little as 5 minutes, it "costs" more than that in time because of the effort of switching attention between tasks. https://www.inc.com//in/the-high-cost-of-multitasking.html
The Lambent office is doing one fun thing a month (in addition to the fun we sometimes have at work). October's fun thing is seeing a play. Our office is 6 blocks from Broadway but we never go! https://www.nytimes.com//betrayal-review-tom-hiddleston.ht
This generation is demographically smack dab in the middle of the ages of my part-time assistant pool. I'm raising their hourly rate and getting considerable pushback. But I would rather make less money (in this case) than pay members of the core of my business less than what it takes to help them live in challenging housing situations, not to mention the stress of having relatively little money in NYC. https://slate.com//millennials-are-in-a-deep-financial-hol
Game changer. Albany will do this too. https://www.nytimes.com//11reuters-employment-california.h
This is too complicated for me but is maybe a good idea, sometimes I press a contact and get almost empty fields. How to Organize Your Messy Contacts List https://nyti.ms/2Fl0nR8
Martha Stewart from The Cut -- On assistants: "Everybody does something different. One keeps track of all my travel and appointments; one keeps track of, sort of, my life, and works with me on helping me create the content of my blog. I have a blog or two, and an editor who’s my media editor. I take a lot of pictures every single week, and they have to be edited and organized into blogs have you seen my blog? The Martha blog is a compilation of a lot of photographs every single day, on subjects that are very useful subjects, and that keeps me up-to-date on what’s going on in my gardens, and my houses, the farm, and the animals. There’s another assistant, she’s more of the organizer for event-planning and all the other things that I have to do."
