Finally almost finished!
The children baked bread today at the Hull House! Part of our daily rhythm at the Hull House always includes baking. Today, we made an organic and plant-bas...ed crispbread from "Pumpkin Soup and Cherry Bread: A Steiner-Waldorf Kindergarten Cookbook" by Rosengran and Lynette. This bread is not only delicious, but it's extraordinarily nutritious with its inclusion of buckwheat, sesame snd sunflower seeds as well as an infusion of organic rose and lavender herbal tea We topped our bread with the choice of butter, plant-based organic "butter" and organic chives. What we about this cookbook is that it offers recipes that follow the seasons, offering a seasonal approach to holistic food. All of the recipes are vegetarian and easily made vegan if desired. We had so much fun making this plant-based bread today. The children were able to practice practical life skills such as chopping, mixing and kneading the bread. #waldorfinspired #waldorfinspiration #waldorfinspiredhome #organicbaking #bakingwithkids #organickids #montessoripracticallife #dailyrhythm #homesteadlife #notallclassroomshavefourwalls #homeschoollife #letthembelittle #wnyvegan #wnykids #amherstny #williamsvilleny #eastamherstny #clarenceny #clarencenewyork #orchardparkny #elmanewyork #elmany #lockportny #wnyhomeschoolers See more

Starting to look pretty scary at the Museum!
A beautiful evening in Lancaster, NY as the town bells play "White Christmas" with some Elvis nearby. Rare to be in Western NY with no snow this time of year. Village of Lancaster
If you’re interested in uncovering your family history, the library offers many free resources!
Happy Hanukkah!
The photo on the left is labeled "6 Central Ave 1916". These buildings would've stood approximately where the "Village of Lancaster" sign is today. The sign on the building on the left reads "Jack Cramford's(?) Barber Shop", and the awning on the right reads "H.W. Stutzman Grocer".

We love this old postcard of West Main Street. Although we don't have a year for this one, the horse and buggy may lend a clue... For more information on the historic buildings on West Main Street, check out: https://www.nps.gov/nr/feature/places/pdfs/14000911.pdf
