Remember also: it will be a windy afternoon and evening
Remembering the ideals of those who fought to defend the very notion of freedom, and the courage summoned by them, as well as the sacrifices of those injured or killed for daring to accept that risk.
If this weather event pans out it will likely bring down tree limbs around town including at the cemetery. Good idea to prepare for Sunday, and hunker down.
A visit to the cemetery is an experience outdoors! As a courtesy to those who visit, and to those who live nearby, weather notices are often reposted on this page. Please be advised that the upcoming weather is predicted to be more severe than we have experienced so far this season. Before noon today marked 42 years since the cold front arrived beginning The Blizzard of '77, perhaps the most severe this area had seen in nearly nine decades, and certainly the most severe ...among those who remember it today. The conditions and circumstances leading up to that event have not unfolded this season. Nevertheless, the motto be prepared is still relevant. (it is no accident that the euphemism for preparedness in a popular current show is, winter is coming!) For your reference, the following link is to a website providing advice on how to be prepared, and what to anticipate. Most info will seem familiar to those who live in Western New York, as it should. Some warnings and tips have not been as necessary or urgent because recent storms have been brief. That's exactly why a refresher is helpful: https://www.ready.gov/winter-weather
For those who enjoy the beauty of winter, the cemetery offers uncommon solitude and peace...
