It is in turbulent times that we can best feel what anchors us. The people and community that show up and support, especially when it is the hardest to do so, fill our reserves in a special way. This summer, our banner affirming the LGBTQ+ community and ribbons memorializing Black people we have lost to police violence were vandalized. The act of vandalism did not shake our beliefs but heightened our resolve to speak up, stand up, and show up in continued support for the Bla...ck and LGBTQ+ communities. With the help of our beloved LAPC community, YOUR help, we were able to raise the funds to post flags on high in honor of our commitment to value and cherish Black lives and affirm the LGBTQ+ community. Soon, we will have these symbols of love and support installed on our corner of Fort Greene, Brooklyn. A small but important step on our journey to a more free and just world.
