COMPOSTING MADE EASY! Click the link to register https://www.larchmontlibrary.org/compostingmadeeasy040621/ Join Elizabeth Poyet and Judy Caputo, two local residents who love to compost, on Tuesday, April 6th at 7 PM online via Zoom. Elizabeth and Judy are here to tell you everything you need to know about backyard composting and the local Food Scrap Recycling (FSR) program! What is composting and why do it? They will explain how to set up a simple compost bin in your yard to... produce rich, brown compost to nourish and enrich your soil. For food items not suitable for backyards (fish bones, meat and plate scraps, spoiled food), or for those who prefer to participate only in the municipal Food Scrap Recycling program, they will explain how easy and meaningful FSR is. This program is in partnership with the Larchmont Library. "Never has so little effort produced so good an outcome!" See more

Join us as we celebrate National Library Week, April 4-10. This year's theme Welcome to Your Library, promotes the idea that libraries extend far beyond the four walls of a building and that everyone is welcome to use their services. During the pandemic libraries have gone above and beyond to adapt to our changing world by expanding their resources and continuing to meet the needs of their users. We invite you to drop off a note thanking our staff, the Board, and the Frie...nds of the Library for all they do and also tell us what you love most about our Library! A special 'post box' for your notes will be outside the Library from 9am-5pm during National Library Week along with writing materials. We'll share some of your notes on social media throughout the week! You can also write to the Library by email ([email protected]), by USPS at: Larchmont Library, 121 Larchmont Ave, Larchmont, NY 10538.

Sunday, January 3rd, at 4:00 pm. Please join us for a conversation with NYU epidemiologist Danielle Ompad. Will there be enough vaccines for all of us? When can you expect to be vaccinated? Are the vaccines safe? How will distribution work? Other than Pfizer and Moderna, which companies are next in the pipeline? What will the new normal look like after we achieve herd immunity? Will masks be with us from now on? Dr. Ompad is the Associate Dean for Education and Associate Professor at NYU’s School of Global Public Health. Her work is focused in the area of adult access to vaccines, urban health, HIV, and illicit drug use. She is the deputy director of the Center for Drug Use and HIV/HCV Research. Important information from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services regarding possible scams regarding the COVID-19 vaccine. Please read and share with family and friends: -You likely will not need to pay anything out of pocket to get the vaccine during this public health emergency. -You cannot pay to put your name on a list to get the vaccine. -You cannot pay to get early access to the vaccine.... -No one from Medicare or the Health Department with contact you. -No one from a vaccine distribution site or health care payer, like a private insurance company, will call you asking for your Social Security number or your credit card or bank account information to sign you up to get the vaccine. -Beware of providers offering other products, treatments, or medicines to prevent the virus. Check with your health care provider before paying for or receiving any COVID-19-related treatment. If you get a call, text, email or even someone knocking on your door claiming they can get you early access to the vaccine, STOP. That’s a scam.
