Louise Lawler's exhibition "WHY PICTURES NOW" is the artist's first major survey in New York presented by The Museum of Modern Art April 30July 30, 2017. "Lawler’s signature style was established in the late 1970s and early 1980s, when she began taking pictures of other artists’ works displayed in collectors’ homes, museums, storage spaces, and auction houses to question the value, meaning, and use of art." Laumont has been collaborating with the artist since the 90's, providing scanning, printing, and mounting. Vik Muniz' exhibition "Epistemes" opens Thursday, February 23rd from 6-8pm at Sikkema Jenkins & Co. Laumont collaborated with the artist on scanning images for the show. The artist's work combines the material object and photographic trompe l'oeil into a unified abstract composition. When speaking about the confounding image-object relationship examined within these works, Muniz stated, "It always goes both ways. What you expect to be a photo isn’t, and what you expect to be an object is a photographic image." The exhibit is on view through through April 1, 2017.
