This afternoon Gov. Cuomo announced an expansion of the Yellow Zone into Orangetown, including much of Pearl River. For those in the zone, gatherings are limi...ted to 25 people, places of worship to 50%, dining in restaurants to tables of no more than 4 people and schools will have testing requirements. This is the result of a recent rise in the number of COVID cases and is at the precautionary level. We all need to be vigilant and turn this ship around! See more

The Town of Orangetown is sponsoring Free Thanksgiving Dinners for Military and Veteran Families with Veterans Angels of Hope, a not-for-profit charity that ass...ists both veterans and current military personnel. Last year, Veterans Angels of Hope was able to provide meals to 800 military and veteran families for Thanksgiving, Christmas/Hanukah and Easter. This year they are hoping to exceed that goal. Aside from providing food sustenance, Veterans Angels of Hope offers Equine Therapy for veterans. This proven therapy will give psychological care to our men and women in uniform suffering from P.T.S.D. Your help is crucial to continue their vision to feed our military and veterans families along with helping them solve the problem of P.T.S.D. that is taking the lives of so many veterans. Donations will go towards a more normal life for our military and veterans. If you would like, kindly send your tax-deductible contribution payable to the Veterans Angels of Hope, a 501(c)(3) charity, to: Richard Jarcho, President Veterans Angels of Hope 13 Inwood Drive Spring Valley, NY 10977 Thanks so much for your help!

The volunteer firefighters have teamed up with the South Orangetown Central School Districts Family Resource Center to make sure everyone enjoys Halloween. Whe...reas the volunteers will continue with the annual parade that so many look forward to, our friends at the Family Resource Center will be staffing tables at the Dutch Hill Firehouse from 5PM up until the parade starts with bags of candy so parents and children can just drive up and get bags of treats if they prefer not to go door to door or participate in the parade. Once again this wonderful town has come together to make it such a great place to live. We thank our friends at The SOCSD Family Resource Center, especially Karen and AJ, and the volunteer firefighters #orangeburgfire #southorangetown #Orangetown #SOCSD #rocklandfires #trickortreat #HappyHalloween

Effective November 1st, the State of New York's seat belt law will be expanded. Until now, passengers 16 years and older, were only required to wear a seat belt... in the front passenger and driver's seat. Starting on Sunday, November 1, 2020, those passengers will be required to wear a seat belt in the back seats of the vehicle as well. According to the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee, 30% of deaths that occur on New York's Highways, involve an unrestrained passenger. Rear seat occupants who fail to buckle up are: Two times more likely to be killed; eight times more likely to be seriously injured; and two times more likely to kill a front seat occupant. Make the right choice and buckle up. #Orangetown #Blauvelt #Nyack #Orangeburg #Palisades #PearlRiver #Sparkill #Tappan #UpperGrandview #BuckleUp

There are many questions surrounding the proposed dissolution of the Village of South Nyack, particularly about the legal process and what happens if it does. A...t this time, my understanding is that, if the petition submitted is legally valid, the residents of South Nyack will vote on whether or not to dissolve but not on the ballot this November. At this time, I do not know when the election would be. My further understanding is that if the voters approve of it, the village will be dissolved and it will legally become like the other unincorporated areas (hamlets) of Orangetown. The Town Board will be consulting with legal counsel so that we have a complete understanding of the process, as well as our rights and responsibilities. But, should it occur, it goes without saying that the Town Board will do whatever it can to make the transition as seamless as possible for all involved. See more
