STATEMENT FROM THE PASTOR: "A close relative of a staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Out of an abundance of caution, we are temporarily placing our re-opening plans on "PAUSE" for a week or two. Some staff members will be tested, and if they show a negative result, we will be clear to resume our plans for Public Masses in the near future. Thank you for your understanding."

SPECIAL PUBLIC RECOGNITION for MEMORIAL DAY Church Bells, including ours at St. John’s, will ring for ten minutes at 9am precisely in honor of the fallen on Memorial Day. Five minutes of silence follows, then the Bells will chime the National Anthem at 9:15 am.
We welcome the news from the Governor that churches may begin welcoming back in small numbers those who seek the spiritual nourishment that our parishes provide.... We have been working to prepare the guidance that our pastors need to ensure that they do everything possible to mitigate the risks of the ongoing threat of the coronavirus, especially for those most vulnerable. Those extensive guidelines are currently being distributed to pastors and parish administrators. Our many parishes across Western New York will need time to implement the necessary precautions and ensure that there is a consistent approach for safeguarding the health and safety of all who will now once again gather for liturgies and participation in the Church’s sacraments. edit: Please go to http://ow.ly/6EqU50zMF2e to review the #ForwardinFaith guidance that has been distributed to parish pastors and administrators detailing the preparations and precautions they must follow in preparing to resume liturgical services and the celebration of sacraments as the COVID-19 threat continues.
Governor Cuomo said on Wednesday that worship services may resume on Thursday May 21. Such services are limited to ten people. Right now, there are no changes in our present regulations and no public Masses will be taking place as a result of the Governor’s comment. Bishop Scharfenberger will be on the committee to advise the Governor about how and under what circumstances Mass or public worship may resume. The possibility of gathering in cars at a Drive-in was mentioned ...also. Please be advised that NOTHING has changed regarding our continued suspension of Public Masses. Please do not call to inquire if we will be having Mass: we are not. No Public Masses or gatherings will take place or be scheduled at this time anywhere in the Diocese of Buffalo until the parishes are officially informed otherwise. Please do not lend any weight to any rumors to the contrary. Thanks and be assured of my continuing prayers as we continue to remain sequestered. Please join us in praying the Holy Mass on our YouTube channel at 8am weekdays, 5pm Saturdays, and 9:30am on Sundays until further notice. - God Bless, Fr. James Waite
