People who come into this building usually come in with a cup of need, Barlow said. They might need one thing when they walk in the door, but the reality is, they probably need a lot of other things. We're full service and whatever needs our community has, either we're going to meet them or we're going to connect them to someone who can. Were proud to be part of this growing community of providers and were excited to see what the future holds for the space at 1021 Broadway! https://buffalonews.com//article_11f9612e-a370-11eb-afb1-1

It’s been a year! At Starlight Studio we are grateful for the normalcy that has continued through this strange and challenging past year. The normal being our a...bility to support the Starlight artists in their creative pursuits AND keep them safely connected to an artmaking community. Like so many others in society, our way of doing this has primarily been through Zoom. Hurray for that! Lots was accomplished amidst the upheaval! We were able to have our signature fundraiser, Co-Artifact, albeit all virtual. We enjoyed great support from community artists and the Starlight artist, for which we are ever grateful! Throughout the year, we continued to exhibit thematic shows on our website. It was satisfying to have a real exhibit at the Kenan Art Center, which was installed in February. Colorful, sometimes moody, sometimes sublime works by the Starlight artists filled the beautiful House Gallery at the Kenan Center through yesterday, March 21. Looking forward. The vaccination level among the Starlight artists is very high; we are looking forward to more Starlight artists coming back to in-person studio work. We are also happy to announce that we will have an actual show in the Starlight Gallery this Spring. Renewal and Regeneration is scheduled to open on Friday, April 30. The public is welcome to see this exhibit Monday-Friday, from 9 am 4 pm. Please call 716-842-1525 to schedule a time slot. Thirty Starlight artists and staff will have artwork in a Virtual Art Show at the conference for New York State Alliance for Inclusion and Innovation. With Spring in the air we are very much looking forward to our project Magnified Observations: Creating Sanctuary. This project was recently funded by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature; administered by Arts Services Inc. The Starlight artists will have the opportunity to visit ecologist and artist, Lara Buckley at the Hickory Urban Sanctuary for 12 visits to sketch and learn about urban ecology and environmentalism. Watch for more details about this including the final celebration and exhibit of this project on September 18! See more
