LGS is family. Class of 2015 members showed up donating blood in honor of their classmate Rob Bishop’s son, Isaac, who has needed many blood transfusions as part of his cancer treatment. LGSers were everywhere!! #lgsfamily

How is post-secondary education changing in a global and virtual society? Michael Frasciello of Syracuse University University College tackled this question and many more at the Class of 2021 Education Day.

On Education Day for the Class of 2021, the design team wanted to share insight on post secondary education alternatives and the myriad of benefits. Thank you to Camille Johnson of Auburn Enlarged City School District, Katie Carpenter of Cornell University Ag in the Classroom and Marcus Williamee of UA Local 81. The class especially enjoyed the game of Kahoot where their knowledge was tested on where things originate!

Thank you Dr. Dotger of Syracuse University for sharing how teachers are trained through live simulated exercises so that they can respond to myriad of challenges they face with students and parents. Moral of the story: practice, practice, practice!

The Class of 2021 leaned from Professor Mario Rios Perez of Syracuse University about how the education system has evolved and how it has inspired to be inclusive (in all respects) since 20th century but there has been societal mores that has done exactly the opposite. Thank you for providing perspective AND how we each can make a difference.

The LGS Class of 2021 started their day being welcomed by Teresa Renn of Le Moyne College who offered ALL LGS grads an extended deadline on their application of their doctorate in executive leadership program. Like all others, COVID turned LGS's world upside down. The Class of 2020 started Government Day with The Statue of Liberty and Uncle Sam, and we ended the day with a representative from the women’s suffrage movement who shared the history of women’s right to vote.

Our last speaker for the LGS Class of 2020 was our very own Lekia K. Hill who inspired the class by sharing her creative project called the Powerful Voices App - a nonpartisan platform that seeks to promote civic and political participation in underrepresented urban and rural communities.

Covering all three branches of government with LGS Class of 2020, we thank Judge Therese Wiley Dancks, U.S. Magistrate Judge of the Northern District of NY, for explaining the local, state and federal court systems.

Thank you Michael Collins, commissioner of City of Syracuse Neighborhood and Business Development for coming to LGS Class of 2020 Government Day for sharing an overview on the purpose of the office and how they continued operations during Covid.

Today the LGS Class of 2020 heard directly from Congressman John Katko and his opponent Dana Balter where they were asked the same questions that were expertly facilitated by Tim Fox of NewsChannel 9. They each answered why we should vote for them.

LGS grad Dean Burrows of Gear Motions tee’d up the day with a civics 101 lesson. He concluded by encouraging the class to get involved locally because that is where you can make the biggest difference.
