League Studio: Our most recent townhome renovation has been completed near Prospect Park, Brooklyn. Encompassing 5 floors with an 8’ wide addition to the rear, the home provides extended comfort to a growing family. Completed a few years back, this was a refresh of a residential lobby in Chelsea. The desk is composed of 3 prisms- 2 white Corian and one to match the millwork veneer. We leaned on the expertise and patience of @associatedfabrication to help us finesse the details. Much needed storage space behind the desk was carved out of the existing wall paneling and now acts as a simple backdrop. One of the highlights of League’s 6 years has been our partnership with Per Scholas @perscholas . Their work is powerful, and they have built a wonderful community surrounding and in support of their mission. As part of League’s work in designing their Newark facility, we located art walls and helped select a local Newark artist to execute that work. Notes on slides: 1- Artist Kern Bruce in front of one of his stunning pieces.... 2- Main Hall Mural 3- Greg Canaras (League Studio Partner) with Kelly Richardson (former Managing Director at Per Scholas) at the Newark opening event. 4- Ken Walker (Per Scholas EVP, Diversity and Operational Excellence) at the Newark Opening Event being his dynamic self. We are working on the final touches of their Brooklyn expansion with Abe Mendez (Per Scholas Managing Director) and the rest of their team. Like Newark we have also helped in the selection of a local Brooklyn artist to contribute to their new space. We helped our friend and client maximize functionality in his classic Tudor City studio. This corner intervention incorporates a refrigerator, sink, induction cooktop, oven, walnut upper cabinet with an integral drying rack, stainless steel pot rack, hidden spice cupboard, seating with a view, radiator and AC covers, bookshelves and the TV. Design continues through the construction process. We had planned for a more enclosed version of this stair that incorporated a coat closet. Our astute (and lovely) client shifted gears in favor of a more open entry. We spent a lot of time on site working closely with the carpenter to sculpt the stair using ordinary building materials: 2x4’s and sheetrock. The client for this recently completed Primary Suite in East Hampton desired easy access between between the tub and the shower. We had a lot of fun working through the slab details. We designed the overflow for the tub so that it drains into the shower. League Studio: The original 10,000 S.F. build for our client Catbird at Brooklyn Navy Yard, with layers of glass storefront walls and thoughtfully placed storage for their jewelry packaging department. We named ourselves League in recognition of the collaboration good projects require. This nearly completed Bleecker Street loft is layered with team work and texture.
