I always get lots of questions about what shoes/insoles I recommend. Let me tell you first, the times they are a 'changing: I always used and recommended insoles or supportive shoes. But turns out, they aren't the answer. I love to learn and test things out, and I'm here to say these are the answer: minimalist shoe with wide toe box: aka, barefoot, no heel, no arch support, no cushion, no pointed toe.... I'm still gonna wear all my other shoes and sneakers, but I'm gonna get in plenty of time barefoot or in these shoes. Sometimes people come to me with these types of beliefs. Meanwhile, I'm giving them exercises to "fix" them, or suggesting lifestyle changes. But I think it's really important to know that pain is our bodies way of protecting us. It can be frustrating and make us feel like it's our fault. Its not! Evolution hasn't quite caught up to our current, modern-day lifestyles! So we may need to adapt a little. Just try not to add guilt, panic and blame on top of your pain!

Kids are back at sports! 2 common areas of pain for young athletes are foot and knee pain. And they are often linked! I (and lots of doctors) used to recommend foot orthotics for kids and adults alike with these complaints. But if the foot is in an orthotic, more than likely it really needs strengthening and stabilizing for long term success!

Text neck! We are all probably guilty of this one at some degree. So what can you do (besides limiting screen time)? #1 Get your neck in better alignment if you are going to use these devices.... #2 Try to reverse the effects of this posture.
