Notes on our takeout menu: A few of you have asked about the inspiration for these meals. Some of the dishes aren’t especially French - they’re Italian, German, Southern, Russian. Right now I’m not too concerned with staying on brand. When I sit down to write these menus, I ask myself, What do I want to eat this week? What do I feel like cooking? I have to consider what will travel well in plastic boxes (think of them as little steamers) and what ingredients are available t...o me. Many of my purveyors have closed as a result of the shutdown. And finally, here’s a tip for ordering. Don’t forget that I’m offering our sourdough bread and French fries every day. Most of the main course portions are large enough so each customer doesn’t need to order all three courses, but it’s probably not a bad idea to get a side or two to share between a couple people. Important Le Fond announcement: While we wait for Congress to pass the Corona stimulus bill, time marches forward and the end of the month inches closer. My staff hasn’t worked in almost two weeks and they can’t wait for aid to come to them. Friday night is burger night and I will donate all proceeds of tomorrow’s carry-out meal directly to the staff fund. That means all food sales, (half price) wine sales, tips, gift cards, donations... everything will go directly to them. Thank you for your generosity. #greenpoint #williamsburg #brooklyn

Ok everyone, I’m bored and I miss you all already so I’m going to start a take-away dinner program this Saturday. (Unfortunately we don’t have any delivery capabilities so you’ll have to pick up yourself.) Here’s how it works: I’ll cook a meal Wednesday through Sunday night (off Monday and Tuesday). It will be available for pickup between 6pm and 9pm. Quantities will be limited so you can pre-order by emailing [email protected]. There will be a meat or fish main course for $21, a vegetable side for $8, a dessert for $10, and our French fries will be available every day for $8. I’ll post the menu for the upcoming week on Monday. All our wine and canned/bottled beer will be half price. Yes, HALF PRICE. Want to learn how to make fondue the @lefondbk way? @learnfrenchbk is hosting a fondue workshop tomorrow at Le Fond starting at 6:30pm. Chef Jake will demonstrate all the ingredients, techniques, and equipment needed to make our fondue, then we’ll eat, drink, and be merry. We’re offering participants one glass of sparkling wine for $5 and if you’re still thirsty, you can get a flight of three wines from fondue country for $25. #greenpoint
