Recently the lifetime revocation of driver’s licenses for DWIs has been upheld by the Court of Appeals. This means if you have had 3 or 4 or more DWIs in the last 25 years, your license will be revoked forever in New York State. Additionally, if you have 3 priors along with 20 points or 2 high point tickets in the last 25 years, your license will be revoked for 5 years. After those 5 years are up, you will then be eligible to get a conditional license for the next 5 years, but you will also have to have the ignition interlock device installed in your vehicle for those 5 years. After 10 years, you can reapply for your license. This is known as a 5 and 5. If you fall into either of these categories, give the office a call. We are gearing up to fight to get you your license back sooner.
