Caitlin has been helping with the COVID testing at Batavia! As medical professionals athletic trainers are a great asset to the school nurse(s) in being able to help with testing. Many athletic trainers have been slotted into new roles during this pandemic. One of the roles we have taken on is morning temperature screeners at some of our school districts which helps with safety in the buildings. Our athletic trainers have proven just how versatile they really are! We'll be sharing some posts & photos showcasing some of the things they have been doing during this strange time with fewer or no sports! Amanda Sheflin is shown in these photos taking advantage of an opportunity to learn from the professionals! Lacerations are common sports injuries so it's great to know what the athlete will experience when they are sent to the ER for sutures. Here she's learning how sutures are applied (don't worry - it's only a chicken breast from the local grocery store). Fun Fact: Suturing is not within the practice act for athletic trainers in NYS, so don't worry - we won't be doing this in real life!

Dear community members and valued clients of Village Fitness, After more than 5 months of closure due to COVID-19, Governor Andrew Cuomo permitted gyms and fitness facilities across the state to re-open beginning August 24. From the beginning of the pandemic, Village Fitness has complied with all state and local directives and CDC guidelines, has communicated regularly with the Genesee County Health Department, and re-opened this past Monday in full compliance with state guid...ance. We have a safety plan in place which has been reviewed by the Genesee County Health Dept, limited capacity to below the state-required limitations, upgraded HVAC filters to comply with state requirements, and implemented a variety of other safety measures to protect members while they use the facility. It is unfortunate if some establishments have operated out of compliance. After all, our mission is to improve YOUR health. At Village Fitness, we believe that by protecting YOUR health and helping you reach YOUR goals, we will achieve our goals as a businessnot the reverse. We welcome our valued clients back into the facility with open armseven if those arms are 6-feet away and a little more flabby than usual because of the layoff!
