Lewis County Soil & Water Conservation District 05.05.2021

SEEKING SUMMER INTERN! The Lewis County Soil and Water Conservation District is seeking applications to fill a Pratt-Northam Water Quality Intern Position. This temporary position is 40 hours per week, up to 350 hours, running May through August of 2021. Applicants Must: - Be 18 years of age and have a valid NYS driver’s license... - Live in Lewis County, Carthage or Boonville area (area designated by Pratt-Northam) - Be enrolled in college in a subject area related to the intern position for the fall semester of 2021 This intern position will include but is not limited to: Assisting with data collection, maintenance and monitoring of stream gauges in the Black River Watershed. Assist in inventory, assessment and control of invasive species. Prepare materials for educational events such as the Lewis County Fair and Riverfest. Participate in surveying, installation and inspection of best management practices, prepare SEQR Environmental Assessment forms and assist landowners with environmental permits. The District will work with any participating college to offer college credit for the internship. Hi Everyone, We have had an abundance of calls lately so we wanted to update you on our current status. Staff are (and have been) working full time, however, please note: Our building is still not open for walk ins due to Covid-19. We are NOT accepting any water samples at this time. Samples must be taken directly to Converse Laboratories 800 Starbuck Ave Watertown. (315)788-8388... If you need to meet with our staff please call ahead to schedule an appointment.
