It was a wonderful Christmas in the Bassett Birthing Center in Cooperstown. We had two babies born on Christmas Day this year! Krista Matzel and Robert Ross of Sidney, NY, had a little baby girl, Arielle Ross, at 5:56 a.m. Christmas morning, which was mom’s due date. Arielle is 19 inches long and 6 pounds 5 ounces. She has a 7 year old brother Robert. Dad agreed What a Christmas gift and says baby and mom are doing great. Shannon and Zakary Newkirk of Hamilton, NY also welcomed a little girl, Harper Rey Newkirk, to their family at 9:31 a.m. Christmas Day - a month early! Shannon said, We were shocked and ecstatic she came on Christmas morning! Harper was 6 pounds, 13.7 ounces and 19 inches long. Mom and daughter are doing great.

Bassett Healthcare Network is grateful for its partnership with first responders in the communities we serve. As directed by the NYS Department of Health, we're assisting in the vaccination of emergency medical service workers who are part of the tier one group prioritized to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. This year, due to COVID-19, in-person caroling was not possible.
