The Bombers were very excited to host our first practice in nearly a year last weekend! We were able to shake off some rust and have a productive batting practice; the team was especially happy to get back to what we love. It was a little weird to have our entire face covered between a mask and blindfold, but we’ll get used to it. The Bombers plan to continue with safe practices, and hope to play some games for real in June and July (stay tuned)! Special thanks to Sports Alley in Bellmore for getting us in and setting up a productive and safe practice!
While the Bombers have not been able to take the field due to the pandemic, players are still finding ways to connect. Check out this song by the new Bombers Band Virtual Love
The Bombers hope everyone is staying safe, as are we! We have not been practicing since the start of the pandemic, however we are looking forward to getting back on the field and getting back to beep baseball as soon as it is safe! In the meantime, enjoy a few pictures (with descriptions included).
Heads up! It’s our next Bombers Player Profile! AYE AYE CAPTAIN! Ales Barrera, #13, joined the Bombers in 2008 and is currently in his second season as captain. Alex enjoys how Beep baseball affords the blind and visually impaired a truly competitive space and likes challenging other teams in the league. Off the field Alex enjoys gardening. Watch this video as Alex makes thunderous contact during batting practice!
WE’RE BACK! Just because we’re not taking the field right now doesn’t mean you can’t learn more about our team. Look out this week for the return of our series Bombers Player Profiles. Hint- this weeks profile features the Bomber who claims to get his power at the plate from drinking apple juice!
The Bombers had an excellent evening playing the Hofstra Softball team on their turf. The Bombers faced a tough challenge in the Pride, and the softball players learned how to hit with a blindfold! We’re very thankful for the chance to play a great game tonight, and we wish the girls the best of luck on their upcoming season! Thanks Coach for setting it up, We look forward to playing again!... The Bombers would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy 2020! We’ve got some big plans for this year and hope to make it a great one!
The Bombers would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!
