As requested by a friend, David Olsen, here are some shots from the reading of Acme Writers' and Songwriters' Group at Life Cafe in 2002. It was the 20th anniversary of Life as well. Dave, I'll tap into John's Photos and try to dig up some more. Anyone else have any photos of this reading?
Three of the many extraordinarily fabulous Life Cafe staff members. My Photos show this shot is from around 1997, but I can't be sure.
Hi everyone. Kathy Life here, yes from out of the blue. Thought I'd surface and say hello. Thanks to everyone who continue to visit Life Cafe on Facebook and lifecafe.com, which I am keeping live. I found this flickr photo in a link in my email archive from 2009. It's "mina in life cafe". Lovely shot of you, Mina. Would anyone else like to share a photo from the past at Life Cafe?
I got an email from Yelp that contained a message to Life Cafe. It was from David P. He asked: "Hi there-wondering if anyone has an image of the old old logo? It was the coolest thing..simple block letters spelling life, but when looked at in a mirror spelled art. I hung onto an ancient tshirt but now can't find it. Any help greatly appreciated" David, I hope you're reading this on FB -- I can't log into Yelp any longer to tell you that my old friend James Love Cornwall (Jim C) gave me your answer, Robert Petrick. He has a FB page and you can check him out there. If you friend me, Kathy Kirkpatrick, on FB, you'll see a photo Jim shared with me of a painting of that design/image. Well, here's to seeing if we connect! Thanks for reaching out! Cheers.
A magnet for artists....Here are more items from my storage room. All kinds of creative people were attracted to Life Cafe and the East Village. In 1989, a painter stood across the street from Life Cafe along Tompkins Square Park and painted this street scene from the corner of 10th St. and Ave. B. Indeed, you often saw artists painting in the streets, and still do. See more at http://lifecafe.com/2016/11/16/a-magnet-for-artists/
