Playing With Relationships In Improv Scenes, 4-week series starts Wed April 7, 6-7:30 pm EST. This class will focus on relationship as the grounding and driving force in improv scenes that are compelling, dynamic and intensely watchable. Through learning the skills to connect with other players in ways that generate what will appear to be organic relationships between the characters, we become more emotionally intelligent, effective communicators, more courageous in our willingness to explore all sides of human experience and grow in creative confidence. www.lifestage.me/improvisation

After over a year the Performing Arts Studio in beautiful Port Jefferson still has our (mostly) TRUE THINGS poster in the window. It’s a sign! Literally. It’s a sign AND maybe a hopeful one that we will do live shows here again when it’s ok to do them! #storytelling

Friday April 9, 2021 1:30-4:30 pm EST HEROIC IMPROV: Small Group Abilities For Resilience in Times Of Crisis. (3 contact hours of CE for NYS Social Workers). Whether it is decision-making for a family member who is ill, parenting in a pandemic, unexpected crises popping up at work or any other situation that is both high-stakes and high-stress, people need the capacity to think and act effectively in a crisis. This training is a collaboration with Dr. Mary Tyszkiewicz (Dr. T...) whose research into how people navigate "no-notice" events - like natural disasters or school shootings - led to some profound conclusions about effective responses in high-stress situations. Heroic Improv, uses the principles and practices of improvisation to strengthen readiness to respond in situations of uncertainty and tension, in a process that is deeply empowering and useful for work with clients.
