Most of us here in the Northeast have been affected by the recent snowfall in one way or another. Chances are that either you or someone close to you has had to shovel snow in recent days. We at Link have put together a few tips to help you remain safe and injury free while shoveling. Prior to starting, remember to hydrate, dress warm, wear shoes with proper tread and preferably gloves to minimize calluses.... #1: Hold the shovel with a wide hand grip for better leverage. #2: When scooping the snow, bend at your knees and hips rather than your back. #3: When turning to relocate the snow, use your feet to pivot rather than twisting your spine. Know your limits and ask for help if you feel pain! When you finish, hydrate (again!) and do some gentle stretches to help those sore muscles recover. Feel free to share these tips with the snow shovelers in your family!
