Liston Abramson LLP, the New York based litigation boutique, is pleased to announce that Sarah (Sally) Hines has joined the firm after more than 40 years of public service in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. As Senior Trial Counsel in the District Attorney’s Office, Ms. Hines handled over 50 felony jury trials and dozens of criminal investigations. She also served as Senior Investigative Counsel in the Office’s Rackets Bureau, handling corruption cases such as brib...e receiving and perjury, and worked in the Special Litigation Bureau representing the District Attorney’s Office and its employees in civil rights litigation and other civil proceedings arising from criminal prosecutions. Ms. Hines also served with the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., as a Trial Attorney in the Criminal Fraud Section, where she investigated and prosecuted white collar and financial fraud cases including a complex, multi-defendant mortgage-based securities fraud. She is an Adjunct Professor at New York Law School, where she has taught Advocacy of Criminal Cases since 2011. She has also served as a member of and counsellor to institutional boards and management. We are delighted to welcome Sally to our firm and our team. We are delighted by this win for our client, Michael Kaufman, at a jury trial in the Southern District of New York. The jury awarded Mr. Kaufman $7 million after finding that Microsoft infringed the asserted claims of Mr. Kaufman's U.S. Patent No. 7,885,981, which patent claims the jury also found valid.
