As this year is closing we are looking back at five extraordinary boxes we had the pleasure of opening: (If there is one thing small presses do, it is opening and closing cardboard boxes! ) by Lyn Hejinian & Leslie Scalapino by Hocine Tandjaoui (trans. by Olivia C. Harrison and Teresa-Villa Ignacio) by Aja Couchois Duncan... by Isabelle Garron (trans. By Eléna Rivera) And finally, by Etel Adnan In addition to these titles we published our first digital-critical edition of: by Joan Retallack As well as a new teaching guide on Aja Couchois Duncan’s Poetry. These last two resources are freely accessible and re-orient some of our work as an independent publisher around the classroom as a site for keeping experimental poetry alive and thriving. We are proud to have continued publishing throughout these tumultuous months, enabling work that is challenging, transformative and non conformist, prioritizing the depth of reader engagement over the expectations of an economic bottom line. Experimental publishing is has always been precarious and this year we are especially grateful for the community of poets, editors, translators, readers, teachers and supporters, who have sustained us and the labor of our poets and book workers. It is because of you that we can continue doing what we do best: open the boxes to anti-capitalist, feminist, hybrid poetry experiments. Thank you all and see you on the other side! #independent #publishing #lookback #yearreview #2021 #poetrycommunity

Calling all friends of poetry and independent publishing. Our deal with the @poetry_project is still valid until the end of this year! Get a membership with Litmus Press by December 31st to receive this and many more perks (more details in our most recent newsletter, link through bio!) Our members help us continue to do what we’ve been doing for the last 20+ years: publishing vital works by early-career poets whose experimentalism places them at odds with the mainstream... literary market, and keeping the discourse alive around historic texts by key feminist writers who face the risk of cultural erasure. Purchasing a Litmus membership at any level helps sustain and increase our efforts to produce, promote, and distribute forthcoming publications and free literary resources. #independent #publishing #poetry #experimental #alternative #feminist #poetrycommunity #readers
