Club meeting Sunday, March 28 @ 10am. We will meet at 260 Jewell Road Gansevoort. Our riding season may be over but there is still work to do and planning to get started for next season. At the top of our agenda are trail reroutes!
Fellow sledders helping each other out. In February, I took a ride from Gansevoort to Greenwich with Tom Belden and left my bag open. The few things that fell... out were inconsequential, except for the registration, which was recently signed over to me and not yet in my name 100%. I was unable to get ahold of the former owner to get a new one and thought I was going to have to get a lawyer. Out of the blue, a family showed up with my registration. Couple of things I learned.. get reg changed asap, always keep documents in ziplocks (saved my docs), and remember there are great people out there. Thanks for those who kept an eye out. Unfortunately, we are a weather dependent sport, as well as a landowner dependent club. The weather has not cooperated, and we have mud on the fields. The landowners have been patient, but are frustrated that their fields are looking like mud pits at SNIRT. PLEASE do not ride on closed trails. One landowner taking away their gracious permission could shutdown our entire system. Check with the club if unsure, and if see anyone out riding, please take a picture and let u...s know. We know it is frustrating, we spend months prepping for what is sometimes a few good days of riding. Thems the breaks.
2/24/21 Snowmobile Tourism a True Story: Today June and I went to the Cranberry Lake Stone Manor Dinner and Motel for breakfast. I noticed several snowmobiler...s there and asked the owner how they were doing on room rentals with snowmobilers? She said, We had a Full House last night(Tuesday Night) and are fully booked for the weekend. I then went over to two tables of snowmobilers, introduced myself and handed out my cards for NASTC and SASTC and asked them where they were from. It turns out it was a group from the Northern Adirondack Trailbreakers. I asked them why club members from a club that had such excellent riding would come To our area. They said just to ride some new trails and do a 2 night overnight trip. I asked them if they used the newly opened semi-rails section of C7 to get to Cranberry Lake area and they responded with a Smiling YES ! We talked about things snowmobiling for a while and I complimented them on their signage and they on CLMSC’s signage. I then asked them where they were headed today and they said Down C8 from Star Lake with a final destination of The Edge Hotel. I told them that, C8 trail was groomed 2 days ago and the trail should be good and that The Rock Garden was covered in snow ! That got another smile from them ! They were intending to stay overnight and return via C7 the rails the following day if The Rails C7 were in good shape after today's warm up. So this is how Long range Overnight Snowmobiling is developing in The Adirondacks. One group of snowmobilers at a time with $$$$$$ dripping off of them wherever they go ! BTW, at this same time a group of Cranberry Lake Mountaineers were loading for an overnight stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Malone to ride the trails of. Yup The Northern Adirondack Trailbreakers and ride to Northern Tier SnorunnersClub and put their sleds on Lake Champlain also trailing $$$$$$ ! Safe travels to All ! See more
Here are some updates from our friends to the south and west.
Another great day of working out the excavator. Finished the culvert and land bridge over the creek by Fortsville. Also put a new, bigger culvert and land bridge where we had a bad washout the last couple years. In the process we woke up some very large porcupines who watched us like a hawk (literally). Thanks Tom, Wes, Pat, and Morgan.
Don’t forget our Sunday club work party! much to be done. 9am meet at 260 Jewell Road Gansevoort. Plenty of signing left to do.
Putting down some much needed culvert pipe near Fortsville Rd. Thanks Tom, Jeff and Adam!
Club meeting tomorrow, Saturday October 24th @ 11am outside under the pavillion at the Gansevoort Fire Department. Join us to see what we have planned and what we need to accomplish before the season starts.

With the current situation we are not organizing any work parties. With that said we DO need to get signs and temporary fencing removed especially from the fields so the farmers can get them ready. We ask our volunteers to let us know which areas they have removed signs from and where the signs are. Thank you and continue practicing social distancing. Posting pics of your work is always acceptable :)
All state trails will remain closed per NYSSA: Please take note that the entire trail network in NY is shown as closed on the phone application and web map at NYsnowmobiler.com. All state snowmobile associations have closed their trail systems in the Northeast and Canada either voluntarily or by Executive Order. While individual riders within their helmets do not pose a significant threat of spreading the disease, we do not want to encourage people to travel to our most p...opular snowmobile destinations where there are no services and the health care system can be quickly overwhelmed. No matter what snow may come over the coming weeks please continue to show your trails as closed until further notice. Stay safe and healthy. Call me if you have any questions, Dominic Jacangelo NYSSA Executive Director
Club meeting this Wednesday, February 26th 7pm at the Gansevoort Fire Department located on Rt 32. Groomers - Please bring your grooming logs - thanks!
Trails closed until we receive more snow.
Trails are now open!! Please ride with caution as there are still some tree limbs hanging over the trails. Please be respectful of our land owners!!!
As of 9:30 am on 2/11/20 we will be closing the trails. Out of respect to our farmers who allow us the use of their properties, we will close until we get another snowfall to cover the planted fields. Please check back for updates with the impending snowfall. Let’s hope for some more snow. Thank you!!!
