Tonight at 11:00pm EST on WEXT Radio Local 518 Show host Andy Gregory again puts together a unique playlist. This time he features... Coupons - "Moz Disco" reaLation - "Not Meant For Me" Son Of A Gun - "Find The Seam" Sky Furrows - "36 Ways of Looking at a Memory" ... Christopher Peifer / Garageland NYC - "Something To Believe In" Curious Comet - "Gone" Our Attic Classic story begins in Schenectady, New York at the Vibra Sound studio and label, which was started sometime in 1966. Local bands would make use of these small independent companies in a form of "pay to play" - meaning that the bands would pay for the use of the studio and staff to record and stamp out a 45 single, most times in the hope of being discovered and signed to a larger record company. One such band of teenagers out of the Electric City was The Heathens, recording two songs - "The Other Way Around" b/w "Problems" - and releasing them in 1967 on the Vibra label. The songs are great examples of hard driving garage rock. Both were written by drummer and vocalist for the group Michael Dellario. Would it surprise you that Dellario, following college studies in music and composition here and abroad, along with a stretch teaching electronic and computer music, became an award-winning composer in the opera, musical theater, and choral music fields? Yep, I was surprised! That's pretty far out of the garage! One final note: if you go searching for some of his current works - Michael changed his surname to Dellaira in 1982 to reflect the original spelling of his family's name. From The Heathens, the Attic Classic is their 1967 single on the Vibra label, "The Other Way Around." At 11:30pm, there's songs by Chuck Lamb & Ria Curley, performed for an episode of AHA! A House for Arts on WMHT Public Media. Plus, there's songs by @Val Haynes ("Tiny Homes") + Annie & the Hedonists ("Big Road Blues") + Lüt - The Band ("He Gave Her A Rose") to fill out the Local 518 hour. Tune in WEXT Radio at 97.7 and 106.1 FM, at 89.1's HD2 station, via online website stream, or by using the free app for iOS and Android devices.

Tonight at 11:00pm EST on WEXT Radio Local 518 Show host Andy Gregory counts his lucky stars because he has a playlist that features... Joan Kelsey - "Let The Spirit Run" alexdgoldberg - "Stay The Same" Girl Blue - "Just A Dream" Sandy McKnight with Fernando Perdomo - "Living On The West Side" ... RHOSEWAY - "Deep Valley" Luxtides - "After" It's 1996. Four guys from high school in Kinderhook, New York, decide to start a rock band. At first it went great, got into the Albany, New York punk scene, were playing shows. But they needed to up their game to make the move from DIY to bigger and better things. Several months later, following line-up changes and a renewed desire to prove to themselves and others that they belonged, F-Timmi was reborn. At first a trio, those first shows were packed with kids. Next step was to record some demos, then in early 2001 round out the line-up with another guitar player. Major record label interest in the band, now calling Albany home, was coming from all over the industry. However, the horrible events of September 11 put any talks of a contract off to the side. It was from that brush with something big that the band changed their game yet again, stepped back from touring and focused on recording what became 'The Shocker' EP. The disc, released in the summer of 2002, was a milestone marking the countless demos and DIY shows from the beginning, and got them some commercial radio exposure. Still not signed to a major label, they still felt they had something to prove. They wrote and recorded the best songs they could, releasing a full length album 'The Middle Class' in 2003. "First In, Last Out" from that album is the Attic Classic. At 11:30pm, there's songs by Kate McDonnell Singer-Songwriter, performed for an episode of AHA! A House for Arts on WMHT Public Media. Plus, there's songs by Bendt ("January") + The Weasels ("Wither Goest the Waitress") + The Sea The Sea ("Let It Be Said (Live at EXT)") + MaryLeigh Roohan ("The High Wire") to fill out the Local 518 hour. Tune in WEXT Radio at 97.7 and 106.1 FM, at 89.1's HD2 station, via online website stream, or by using the free app for iOS and Android devices.
