LONG BEACH RESORT ERA The story of the present Long Beach begins with the Resort Era. In April 1906, the developer of Long Beach, William. ...H. Reynolds, formed a Corporation The Estates of Long Beach. He hired Charles H. Leavitt, Jr.,Landscape Engineer to map out a plan for Long Beach. The Title of the original drawing Estates of Estates of Long Beach, President William H. Reynolds, Map #1, dated and signed by Charles H. Leavitt, Jr., dated and Signed by him, March 1907. In 1909-Long Beach opened with the most stringent restrictions requiring Plots a certain size, a high minimal cost for the building and construction white stucco facade and red tile roof. The vision of the Developer, William H. Reynolds was to create a superbly eloquent estates for the summer colony for the wealthy and famous of the era. Promotion to sell properties. LONG BEACH FAMOUS - RESORT ERA The RESORT ERA of Long Beach attracted many of he wealthy and famous world entertainers of that time. One of the most famous, o...f this era, was the well known Broadway Producer Florence Ziegfeld. He had a 30 room exquisite magnificent summer mansion in Long Beach. The mansion was built on Reynolds Channel with a view of he magnificent Manhattan Skyline.
