Today was a reminder to us that we love what we do. This is Baha, the owner of Baha Farm Stand in East Moriches. On December 8th, he lost his best friend José, his pet goat. They spent years together until he was stolen from his home. We were heart broken when we heard the story. Today we gave Baha another friend from our farm. He was overjoyed when he got into his van with his goat. We wish them a happy journey together. José has a few brown markings and weighs about 150 pounds. Fun Fact: the colder it gets, the thicker their coats grow so they don't require heat in the winter. Still used for fur coats our two will keep theirs forever. Art on the Farm: Artist Residency at the Long Island Game Farm Visual artists are invited to submit proposals to be artists in residence at the Long Island Game Farm for the 2021 summer season. Proposals may be for permanent or temporary installations and should reflect and incorporate the mission of the LI Game Farm of honoring and educating about the natural environment. This non-residential residency will take place June 7 - July 15, 2021 during park hours. Resident Artis...t talks will be scheduled for park guests on Saturdays during residency months and during the week for arts integrated school student visits and professional development for teaching artists. An Opening Reception will take place on Friday July 16, 2021. Non-permanent installations will be removed at the end of the 2021 season. Artists selected for residencies will be given a stipend and limited materials reimbursement. Applications will be available soon online at https://www.longislandgamefarm.com no later than October 5, we will update when they go live! An application package will include a proposal, an artist bio, a professional reference and samples of previous work. Artists are welcome to visit Long Island Game Farm at 489 Chapman Boulevard in Manorville, New York, free of charge to scope out the grounds for potential installation locations through October 31. Hours of operation are Friday 11AM-3PM, Saturdays and Sundays 10AM-5PM. Please email [email protected] to be added to the guest list.
