The Africana Studies Department supported LIGT all of last year. Right now, it's understaffed which means students are being undervalued. Please support the idea that the school needs to hire more full time faculty as promised.

Congratulations to our founder Marcia McNair on this great accomplishment! Our stories matter and we want to lead by example, especially for the next generation. To support our efforts of helping young Black girls create their own stories through media, please feel free to dm us or email us at [email protected]. #LongIsland #SuffolkCounty #NassauCounty
The Cycle 7 Graduation was truly a beautiful event. We practiced social distancing, but still managed to create the celebration that our group of dynamic young ladies deserved. Our latest high school graduate, Ms. Jada Scott, gave an inspiring address. I personally would like to thank the LIGT family for the memorable tribute. I will treasure the plague, flowers and gifts, as well as the memory, forever.
We are in a historic time that has unearthed and pushed the racism embedded in this country to the forefront. Recently, a Sistas On Fire meeting was sabotaged by racists. This is why we must continue to march, protest and practice other forms of activism until Black lives truly matter. #Repost @tectalktecsolve with @make_repost Kwamara Thompson Founder and CEO of Sistas on Fire speaks out on the zoom b*mbing that occurred earlier today.... #BlackLivesMatter
TO ALL OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE IN TOLERANCE AND SOCIAL CHANGE: If you tried to log on and were not allowed to join today's webinar (I Am A Black Woman. Yes..., I Matter: Black Women and Education) , it is because we were the object of a vicious racist cyber attack. Therefore, we had to shut down the webinar. We will announce when we will reschedule shortly. The rest of this message is for THE RACISTS PIGS WHO HIJACKED OUR MEETING: Thank you! We did not realize our little group was such a threat! Your hateful words and disgusting images have made us even more committed to fighting social injustice than ever before! We now know we must persevere despite all odds. You tried to silence us through intimidation, but you only made us determined to speak even louder. Because these ideas may be too complex for your ignorant mindsets, let me simplify it for you: YOU DID NOT SCARE US! We know you were trying to create fear. Fear is the tactic the hateful have used since time began, but Dr. King overcame fear through faith and his faith was his fire. Sistas are on fire, and there is nothing you can do to put us out! #BlackLivesMatter #icantbreathe See more
All gone too soon #BlackLivesMatter
