Please join us TONIGHT at 7 pm, for a virtual screening and discussion of the film Jones Beach, An American Riviera in conjunction with the East Meadow Public Library. Conceived during the roaring twenties, Jones Beach was a revolutionary concept: an ocean playground for the urban masses. Centered around the beauty of nature, the park would have none of the commercial attractions of Coney Island. When it opened in 1929, it was the engineering feat of its time. The film chr...onicles the park’s history from its origin to its position today as one of the most popular summer destinations in the country. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Long Island Traditions’ director, Nancy Solomon, former Jones Beach park superintendent, Sue Guliani, and George Pozderec, writer & director of the film.
