Long Table Harvest

We are sooo pumped to be the recipient of donations this week from our favorite restaurant @lildebsoasis at their pop-up Fuego 69 in the backyard of @rivertownhudson . 69 cents from each menu item ordered will go towards our organization - so go have dinner there this weekend for a double gift of great food and supporting our work. Last Monday, Lebron finished up his summer internship with Long Table! We ended things on a high note by dropping off some holy basil to Ms Pamela Badila at her beautiful home in Hudson, NY. Lebron has been so helpful and always so thoughtful this season as we prepared individual crates and family boxes for residents along our distribution stops. We can’t wait to see what he does as a teen leader with @kitesnest and as an incoming junior at Hudson High School. Big thanks again @kingbron518

So many people make Long Table and the sharing of good local food possible. They make the time early mornings, late afternoons, mid day when they already had plans. But still they will show up, and they will show up consistently. They are humble, they are so so kind, and many have been doing this work for years without recognition. And without the want or need to be recognized. . . There is too much to say about a system that needs to be rebuilt, but there is never enough ...said about the people fighting it. Just remember that there are so many people hard at work finding the cracks and the light to grow through. And to look to them. . . There are many people that deserve a shout out, but for today we are sharing a few from our Monday routes. Starting with Arlen Medina, who has been working in the community for over 15 years as a translator, interpreter, and advocate for the Latinx and migrant communities of Hudson. Arlen has also been helping out with community gardens this summer, and it was so exciting to hear updates today! Next we have THE Annette Perry, who has been so helpful and active with the Hudson community over the years, and is now stepping up to help us get food to folks in Hudson. She’s also been working with @growblackhudson this summer, and her garden is looking more and more beautiful every week. Last but not least is Adolfo Lopez who is the assistant director with @greaterhudsonpromise , and who has been so amazing at getting veggies out to the families each week on top of his other work of community programming. @ Hudson, New York See more

Food is a weapon. Food is power, plants are power, land/nature/connection/community/Black lives and joy is power. Access to food is and has been a race issue - @ghettogastro - - We are calling on our community to help us get seedlings to BIPOC families, individuals, and organizations in Hudson and the surrounding areas. Don’t just give someone food, when you can give them the chance to grow. -... - Funds are being raised to cover the cost of seedlings, with all funds raised then being given to undocumented families in the Catskill/Hudson community, the Homeless Trans Women Fund, and the Loveland Foundation. - - We are also going to be offering seedlings in canvas pots with soil so that ANYONE can grow without needing a yard or soil space. - - Please DM us on Instagram or email [email protected] if you would like to receive seedlings or if you can donate seedlings.
